Projects

I had a number of Personal Projects that led to my current career today. This spans everything from the most popular student-run media channel at University of Illinois, to a social media aggregator, to throwing the largest (ticketed) parties in town.

Hashtagr

Hashtagr was a social media aggregator that connected Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Vine, Google+, and Tumblr into a simple and easy to use platform. With over 250K total users, Hashtagr won the national title for “Innovation” at Microsoft’s Imagine Cup - the largest student start-up competition.

At the highlight, Hashtagr was incubated by Microsoft Ventures in Redmond, WA. It was a great introduction into the startup world, and it taught us something super important - it was helped us understand everything we don’t know.
While our focus was B2C, our clients were global from agencies to Anheuser-Busch (see left), American Advertising Federation, Sunburn Music Festival, and many others.

Snacktime Delivery

Before Doordash, Postmates, and Uber Eats were prevalent, I started the fastest food delivery service in Champaign, IL. My co-founders and I solved three problems:
There are too many options on a menu
Food delivery costs were too expensive
It took too long for delivery
With just three clicks, students and faculty could order Pizza, Tacos, Breakfast Sandwiches, and more with a side & drink for just $10 and get it in ten minutes.
We had over 5000 orders throughout its operations, and it taught us so much about how difficult running a food business is.

Student Consulting & Promotion

While building startups was awesome, it wasn’t exactly how I made an income. Most of the revenue from those startups were reinvested right back into the business.
Over the course of my time at University of Illinois, I had a small business that supported other small businesses. With multiple social media assets including the most popular student-run social media channel on campus, I was able to acquire 20 clients that funded most of my college experiences.
The main purpose of this organization’s promotional activities was to bring together people that were often “segregated” by their ethnicity and background. I personally presented my work & findings to the Chancellor at University of Illinois and the Board of Trustees before I graduated in 2015.
