This document outlines the core technical requirements for the successful deployment, operation, and maintenance of the FDP.
In summary, the solution requires a dedicated server (physical or virtual) running Ubuntu 24.04 with Docker, provisioned with at least 8 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, and 100 GB of storage. The deployment is dependent on key institutional assets: a static public IP address and a publicly registered domain name.
Beyond the initial setup, we emphasize on the need for ongoing operational procedures, including:
Security: Proactive hardening of the server, including firewall configuration, SSH key-only access, and mandatory HTTPS.
Data Integrity: A robust, automated backup strategy for all FDP data and configurations, with copies stored off-site.
Maintenance: A regular schedule for applying security patches and updates to the OS, Docker, and the FDP application.
Successful implementation also relies on data stewards with foundational knowledge of Linux administration and Docker containerization.
These requirements serve as a baseline for discussion. We are open to collaboration with the technical and IT departments to review these specifications, leverage existing institutional resources, and ensure the final deployment aligns perfectly with the institution's policies and infrastructure.
