Importance of journaling

Journaling is one of the most powerful tools I know to self-reflect and to improve the knowledge of myself. There is never “too much journaling” so you should make it easy to journal (always carrying notebook with you) and always do it when you feel the urge to do it. But I feel making it a practice is important by doing it at least weekly, but ideally daily. Below the list of questions that I ask weekly and daily.

Areas important to reflect on:

self awareness / energy / needs - what do I need to be happy
gratitude - what am I grateful for
savouring / presence - how much am I enjoying the present
learning / growth - what am I learning

Principles

Should not feel rushed, do it when you feel you have “all the time”
Should be pleasant, it is ok to skip one day if you don’t feel like it
Written on paper - so it forces you more time to reflect - write it in a legible way so it forces you to think deeply
