Weekly reflection is super important to keep improving week over week. I do it Sunday evenings, try to block one hour, to review the week that has passed and what should I focus on the week ahead.

[PRIORITIZATION] Organize my list of things to do effectively week by week - I have a reasonable plan of what I need to accomplish each week. (week planning, prioritization, 80/20)
[EXECUTION] Get the most important things done every day - I am productive and able to complete the most important tasks each day. (start/complete tasks, time awareness, procrastination)
[PLANNING] Plan and complete long term projects -I am capable of stay on track and deliver big projects. (long term planning steady progress long, finish long projects)
EXAMPLE - February 22th 2022
Summary of previous week
Good:
[EXECUTION] I had an interview for a consulting job that didn’t go well and got rejected. This is the type of things that typically throw me off balance (similar to the bad review that happen in the week prior).
This time I was aware and I reacted to the news by scheduling time to process it next day like we discussed last week. This was helpful and allow me to reflect on it with cold head and not feeling agitated.
[PLANNING] One of the projects that I had to start for long time, that was in the I want to invest time on this but not urgent, was to learn more about the crypto space and web3. It was in my todolist for a long time but I always felt overwhelm to start because there is so much to investigate and learn.
This week I decided to just get started, and focus on dedicating 30 mins every day to read/learn about a topic and write about it in
Broken link
. This allowed me to get started, because I could pick any topic, and just needed to spend 30 mins on it and been able to make some progress everyday.
To improve:
[PLANNING]This week I was not able to complete the Nutrition part of my ADHD project. Part of it was that we didn’t have help to take care of the baby last week, but I also underestimated the complexity of planning the nutrition. In a way it was good to just break the project into weeks, but there are areas that require more attention than others. I revisited the plan and added this week to to complete in nutrition (and moved the other areas one week ahead)
[PRIORITIZATION] I was not prepared for the interview, for example in the prompt for the interview they asked to prepare one project to show and I didn’t have one prepared. I think there were two things, one a tendency to wing it (eg. not follow the rules) and second I planned the preparation last minute (to benefit of the rush) but because our help was not able to come that day I had to stay with João and could not really focus on the preparation.
Still learning:
[EXECUTION] : I am experimenting on when I should put the exercise in my routine. I tended to think that I needed it first thing in the morning to “wake me up” but after researching the science actually I learned that the most effective time to work is actually about 2 to 4 hours after wake up, which might conflict with the time I was exercising. On the other hand exercise might help me become more alert on the times of the day where I felt less energized.
This week Im changing a bit the schedule to start with a 90 minutes working session at 9:30, followed by the exercise after, and see how I feel
[EXECUTION] : We had friends staying over for the weekend and that sometimes can drain energy for me (throw me off balance) But I realized that I just had to keep my schedule and had really productive early morning (before everyone wakes up) where I was able to take care of somethings before enjoying the time with them after.
