“It helps me to get my groceries from the foodbank and essential because I can’t carry my groceries up large hills.” JA
“It is important to be able to have access to public transportation especially to Northgate University district, and Healthcare (Kaiser UW etc), or other areas in order to go to work, libraries, medical services, shopping, Kraken skating area, etc. There are many elderly, lower income residents, students and young workers without cars who need more access to public transportation not less. Since the pandemic, we have had a decrease in routes as well as fewer pick up times. The goal should be to encourage use by making it easy to access.“ TP
“This is one of my most important bus routes, I use it to get groceries weekly and it provides a crucial mode of transport for me since I don’t have a car - the recent reduction in service has already created a hardship for me and a total elimination of service would negatively affect my life in a big way.” SL
“This route connects me to U District and is used by all family members. It is a lifeline for many members of the neighborhood to get to shopping and more. Please keep it going.” JV
“Work and grocery store and doc appointments.” ZD
“I've lived on Thackeray Pl NE between 42nd and 43rd for almost 20 years. My wife and I have not owned a car during that entire time. We walk and take public transit to go grocery shopping, etc. As we get older (we're both approaching 60) walking longer distances will get more difficult. The 26 was an amazing bus route for us. Then it was killed. Now Metro wants to take away the 20, which we use to get to PCC (and other stores) in Green Lake. This is a huge mistake for people like us, who would like to not be forced to buy a car as we age in our house.” DN
“I strongly urge you to maintain the 20 route. The 20 route being eliminated would eliminate my ability to get groceries, get to the library, and get to my urgent care center. The area that's being cut between 85th and Green Lake Dr does not have sufficient alternate bus routes in place. The 44 is on the south side of the lake (2.5mi away), the 62 on the east side (1mi away), and the 45 and 61 do not serve the west side of I-5 any further south than the Green Lake community center. Even the 61 route to go north and connecting the Northgate light rail station would require a combination of longer uphill walks (15min) across busier streets (80th & Wallingford). I love the Lynwood light rail expansion, but it does not replace the need for local transit. The 45 works well for east-west transit, but as a resident in the area being cut, I rely on the 20 for north-south travel. Please maintain the 20 route until it truly has workable alternatives.” AC
