“Bus routes are integral to supporting equity in transportation for people who may not drive. Being able to access the light rail easily should be a requirement for all neighborhoods in the area.” TM
“Bus number 20 makes it more possible for our neighborhood to NOT use or have vehicles to get around in the city. So many new apartment complexes in the green Lake Wallingford area do not have parking for vehicles. It’s important for us to Have a bus to get to light rail.” MM
“Bus that connects me to the Link which is part of my work commute. Also takes me to church on Sunday’s and allows me to get to Green Lake. For work, church, and personal it’s a bus I take almost daily.” AT
“Cutting access to public transit in this part of town will put more cars on the road in an area with limited parking.” JB
“I was dismayed when we lost bus #26 but #20 was an acceptable alternative. I’ve taken it to Northgate but mostly to the University Station for light rail. To walk there takes about 25 minutes and in the winter it’s not enjoyable. My knee has developed arthritis so it’s getting harder to walk to light rail so I’m depending on the bus more. To lose it will be very detrimental.” JN
“It gets me home from the UDistrict if I’m out and about, and it gets me home from the light rail. It also takes me to Northgate for medical appointments and to Lake City Way for automobile issues. It provides the last leg of public transport for travelers coming and going to the airport.” SM
“Light rail parking decisions clearly assume we’re not driving to the light rail. Well, then you need to have buses that get there without requiring a 15 minute walk, which is where we’d be without 20.” AG
“Please keep Bus #20! This is the only bus my senior parents rely on to travel to downtown and International District frequently(connecting to the light rail). My husband takes it for his daily commute to work. Our whole family takes it to light rail stations. If this bus is eliminated, we will have to walk half an hour to the nearest light rail station. Thanks for your consideration!” DR
“The #20 bus provides a vital public transit connection between Wallingford/Green Lake and the Link lightrail. The access it provides is critical for residents of these areas, especially for teenagers, elders, and those who are otherwise vehicle-constrained, allowing them accessible travel to/from work, school, and activities throughout the greater Seattle area.” JS
“The No. 20 bus is a critical aspect in making the Wallingford/Meridian neighborhood a 15-minute community. It allows our neighborhoods reliable access to both Green Lake and the U District without needing to cross dangerous busy roads such as NE 50th St (which has only two crosswalk interchanges across a busy four-lane NE 50th street between I-5 and Meridian Ave.), NE 65th St. (which has only two crosswalks between Ravenna and Green Lake Way, both non-stoplights), I-5. Service cutbacks in late 2023 hurt 20 bus ridership, yet despite that the rush hour busses remain mostly full, showing there is demand to keep vehicles off our already busy streets and using public transit, such as the 20 bus. ... Please do not discontinue bus transit service to the east Wallingford/Meridian and Green Lake communities! We depend on this for reliable access to the light rail and U District.” JP
“There are no other public transportation options in between the light rail stations. From our neighborhood, it’s a 20 min walk or $30 Uber to the light rail. We rely on the bus to get to work and to the light rail station (to get downtown or elsewhere). Without access to the bus, we will need more cars on the road.” SS
“This is an important route for us to the light rail. It means that my teens can get to school by the Seattle Center.” SY
“This is the only bus close to me in my neighborhood where i can take to the light rail , getting rid of this bus would be so hard for me to get to work.” ES
“This is the only bus closet to my house and I am a senior who depend on bus 20. Taking the train to airport with my luggage is just impossible to walk 12 blocks and also safety concerns. ... Please, we need bus 20. Hope our requests and concerns will be taken into consideration.” T
“We need as a city to make it easier, not harder, to access transit and to make bus to light rail connections more, not less, convenient. Eliminating Route 20 is going to force those of us who are trying to use transit instead of personal cars to start using our cars more. I feel strongly that this is the wrong direction for our city to take. Looking ahead, I won't be driving forever. I wish to stay in my neighborhood and will need good public transit to get things done. Thank you.” RM
“We used to take the 20 frequently to go directly downtown, but since the lightrail stations were built we need to take the 20 to get there. That was the whole reason to have a light rail, is to use the buses to move people from the surrounding areas to the stations. So what is the point, of the buses don't go to the stations. It's easier for us to just drive. Seems to defeat the whole purpose.” RS
“With the replacement of the (admittedly, unreliable) 26x, the 20 route has been instrumental in helping me reach downtown Seattle. From my house, it often takes just as long to get to light rail by bus as by walking, but my children and I are not capable of walking that distance to the light rail. Please keep the #20.” AG
“Without #20 I'd have to lug my suitcase 6 blocks to get to #62 to the lightrail/ airport. Or walk 8 blocks to go to UW.” CC
