"Bundling" or "Bed-Courting" - This was the custom of allowing courting couples to sleep together, with some was to discourage sex: "bundling sacks" "bundling boards"

Young men would have to travel long distances to “court”, so it was practical/hospitable for them to stay over.

It saved on winter fuel when people slept together.
