We've identified a small leak coming from the ceiling cover in the first-floor lobby. The leak is due to an old soldered copper pipe joint that was already in poor condition. When the building's water supply was shut off and then repressurized, the rust that had been covering the joint from the inside was dislodged, causing the compromised joint to leak. Unfortunately, this is a common issue when bleeding and refilling the water supply system in older buildings.

Repair Plan:
Since this is a 2” water line, we will need to shut down the water supply to the tier connected to this pipe. We’ll then drain the water from the tier water supply system, replace the compromised section of the copper pipe, and then refill the tier’s water supply.
