Moderating the workshop

Intro

Here is your overview of everything you need to moderate your workshop successfully.
If needed, you can start with some Guidance, although the issues addressed there have probably been sorted when you were Setting up the workshop.
We’ve given you a place for Ad-hoc To-Dos, which you can use as a scribble pad so that even the small things don’t get forgotten.
Next are your Tasks, nicely filtered to focus just on those things you need to do to ensure a smooth moderation. Watch the list get shorter, as you tick the boxes!
We added a view of the Participant List here, so that you can quickly see who’s who, add a late arrival or (re-)assign tasks on a per person basis. This is where you can send workshop-related eMails.
In Manage the Content you have (some) control over the content that the Participants see in both and .
During the workshop, you can Follow the Conversation and Manage Voting & Promotion.
Moderating isn’t acting - otherwise we’d say break a leg 🦿. Instead, we simply say enjoy! We hope you find the tools we’ve provided useful. If your have comments or suggestions for improvements, we’ve built a just for that!

🦮 Guidance ...

Here you can see the tasks that need to be completed by you as Moderator during the workshop.
If you need background information or step-by-step instruction for any task, clicking on the
chip
in the Task column, will open a detailed view for that task.
❓ No tasks displayed? That may be for a variety of reasons:
You are not being recognised as a coda user with appropriate access. Currently we see you as
@Anonymous User
You will get most value from this doc when you login to an existing account or when you - No worries, it’s free, and you don’t have to give credit card details!
You have completed all your tasks. Filter the list on Done equals: ☑️ to see completed tasks
You have not been assigned any Moderator tasks. Enjoy the freedom! 🎈
You are the intended Moderator, but have not yet been (properly) set up. Use this button to
Add me as Moderator
and this one to
Add my Moderator Tasks
Note: if these buttons are disabled before you start, it’s because someone else (
Colm Toolan
) has already been assigned as Moderator. Enjoy the freedom! 🎈
🤐 Secret workaround: The buttons above are disabled once a single moderator has been assigned. If you need to add a second moderator, you can do so in the , by adding a row, assigning the role Moderator and clicking the Add Tasks button.

Please be aware that there are two sets of controls driving the display of content on the pages mentioned. By default, the Moderator can decide which content is shown for all participants. The Moderator’s choice and the resulting exclusions are shown above the effected tables. Each participant can decide to override the Moderator’s Choice and can make their own selection for personal display. These changes do not effect other participants’ view of the Canvas.
If your Participants are confused because they can’t see what you as moderator are referring to, please have them check that the override toggle, above the respective display, is switched off.

💬 Manage the Conversation

A consolidated view of all the participant conversations. Depending on the duration of the workshop and on the participant’s need to communicate, there may a lot of content here. Use the filters provided to focus on the participant(s) and topic(s) of current interest.
