Lab 7 - DATX Setup and Modification

In lab, we modified the hardware of the radio, as well as updated the firmware on the radio. In the first part of the lab, we updated the old opentx operating system to the newer edgetx operating system. To update the firmware, we plugged the transmitter into the laptop and uploaded the edgetx file to the radio. Then we uploaded some files to the sd card and put the sd card in the radio. For the second part of the lab, we took apart the radio and removed some nonessential switches and a dial. We hot glued the unused switches and knob to the inside of the radio, in case we were to use them again. The reason why we wanted to remove the switches is because they are not needed and we would not want someone accidentally hitting an unused switch. There is also an increased risk of forgetting which switch does what and mistaking one switch’s function for another switch’s function, causing a crash.
