For the full hands-on experience of this interactive doc, please if you aren’t in a copy already. To begin, let’s start with a quick Coda vocabulary lesson.
The table below is a table without any views. A quick way to identify is to hover by the table title to reveal a chain link with a number. If there is a zero next to the chain link, this is a table without any views. If you see a 1 or above, this number is corresponding to the amount of views. Proceed below for the two examples.
Example 1 - Table
Try it yourself 👉 Hover over the title in the table directly above.
You’ll see the tooltip that states:
You haven’t created any views of this table.
Try it yourself 👉 Click on the chain link and number.
You’ll get to the Doc map that will open on from the Settings panel. You will see that this table does not have any views along with other information about the table.
Example 2 - View
Try it yourself 👉 Hover over the title in the table directly above.
You’ll see the tooltip that states:
See connections to Table in doc map.
Try it yourself 👉 Click on the chain link and number.
You’ll get to the Doc map that will open on from the Settings panel. You will see that the table above is a view of another table.
Note: If you were to delete a base table that has connected views, you will receive a pop-up warning. If you delete the base table, all of the views will also be deleted. You will not receive any similar warning when you delete a view or a table without any views.
