Automate
Let Coda take care of the little things. Automations free up your time from repetitive tasks so you can focus on making progress.
Setting up automations
Click settings gear in the top right of your screen.
Select
Automations
.
Click
Add rule
.
Choose a
Time-based
or
Row changed
trigger, detailed below.
Automation types
1. Time-based
This is the trigger you would use if you were looking to automatically push the button that was built in
Take action
. By setting up this automation, you can automate notifying reps of overdue opportunities.
Once in the automation panel, add a rule, and give it a name.
In the
When
field, choose between Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly notification cadence.
Select
Push buttons
, select the button you built in
Take action
.
Toggle your notification on.
2. Row changed
This is the trigger you would use if you wanted to notify a group of people or a channel when an opportunity status has changed.
Once in the automation panel, add a rule, and give it a name.
In the
When
field, choose
Row changed
, then select the table and column of the changed field you want to receive notifications about.
In this instance, it’s the
Opportunities
table →
Stage
column.
In the
If
section, refer to the Step 1 result (the row referenced in Step 1), and add a formula to filter out when you want the automation to run.
In this example, we only want the automation to run if the new stage is “Closed won.” The automation will not run for any other stage changes.
Select
Send message or notify user
, then select your notification type and recipients.
In the
Content
field, draft the message you’d like to send. You can @-mention different columns of the row using Step 1 Result.
Toggle your notification on.
