“The date of birth, for example, should be consistent among the whole SIV application package but it's not unusual for an applicant to get their COM approval, apply for their first passport, and have a revised DOB. Same for a name change. It's not unusual for a new tazkera or passport to have a surname that the applicant doesn't normally use. State takes these variations in stride but it is really important to have the DOB and name nailed down by the time of the visa interview.
If the applicant does need to change the information, they should use AfghanSIVApplication@state.gov at the pre-COM stage and NVCSIV@state.gov at the post-COM state.”
