About the project

Purpose of the project

This project aims to build a credible, practical, and accessible greenhouse gas (GHG) monitoring system for businesses in Myanmar. It seeks to help businesses in Myanmar to understand their GHG emissions, identify major emission sources, and take meaningful steps toward reducing their environmental impact.
Developed under the Prevent Plastics+ project, funded by the European Union through the SWITCH-Asia Programme and led by sequa, this initiative supports Myanmar’s transition toward low-emission and sustainable business practices.
The GHG Emission Measurement Tool is being developed by , a sustainability consulting firm based in Myanmar, in collaboration with Prevent Plastics+. The tool is part of the project’s broader effort to establish a baseline GHG measurement standard that businesses in Myanmar can apply to monitor, manage, and report their emissions effectively.
By enabling businesses to measure and understand their environmental footprint, the project contributes to more data-driven climate action, promotes green financing readiness, and enhances Myanmar’s potential participation in future carbon market.

About the tool

The GHG Emission Measurement Tool is a digital system to help businesses in Myanmar collect, calculate, and analyse greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from their business activities. Using a guided, question-based format and standardised methodologies aligned with the GHG Protocol, the tool provides a practical, reliable, and locally relevant way for businesses, even those without specialised environmental knowledge, to measure their carbon footprint.

Purpose of the tool

The purpose of the tool is to:
Define clear emission boundaries for consistent measurement
Simplify data collection using structured, easy-to-follow templates
Ensure credibility and transparency in data processing and reporting
Generate actionable insights to inform decision-making, sustainability planning, or external reporting;
Support the establishment of a standardized GHG measuring framework across Myanmar’s business sectors.
