This manual is designed to explain the questions included in the form and the expected answers for each. It aims to help you better understand the questions and collect the necessary information/data in advance before answering the form.

The manual includes 3 main sections as follows;

Topics

The GHG Emissions Measurement Tool is structured into nine main topics, each focusing on a specific area of your operations:

General Business

To collect essential background information about your business, including its sector, operations, and workforce.

Building

To gather data on operating areas that the business is using, such as ownership, size, and construction year.

Vehicles

To record and calculate transportation-related emissions from company-owned or leased vehicles.

Cooling Equipment

To track the number and types of cooling systems, such as air conditioners and refrigerators.

Heating Equipment

To understand what type of heating system are used and what kind of energy powers it.

Generator

To calculate direct emissions resulting from the use of on-site electricity generation equipment.

Energy

To capture where the electricity used in your business operations comes from.

Employee Commute

To estimate emissions from employees’ daily travel to and from the workplace based on transport modes and distances.

Waste Management

To identify the types, quantities, and disposal methods of waste produced during business operations.

Types of questions

There are nine main topics. However, you will only need to answer the topics that are relevant to your business. Under each topic, there are several question types designed to capture data accurately.

Text: You need to type your answer in words.

Single Select: You will be provided with a few answer options, and you need to choose only one answer that best represents your situation.

Multiple Choice: You will be provided with a few answer options, and you can choose more than one answers that apply to your business.

Number: You need to enter the number only. Do not include letters, commas, or other symbols.

Link: You need to provide a valid link that can be accessed correctly.

Detailed explanations of each question

General Business

In this topic, you will be asked 9 main questions.

Based on your answers, additional follow-up questions may appear to collect more specific information. Follow the guidance below for instructions on how to answer each question.

Please write the name of your business. (For example, ABC company)

Your business address (Text)

Please mention your business address in detail. (For example, No. (11), ABC street, ABC Township, Yangon, Myanmar)

Your phone number (Phone Number)

Please type the valid phone number that is reachable.

The year your business was established (Number)

Please enter the year you started your business.

Link for the website or social media page of your business (Link)

Please provide a valid website or social media of your business

Your business type (Single Select)

Please select only one answer that best describes your business type. If you selected “Others”, please describe your business type correctly.

1) SME: Small/ medium-sized independent business

2) Joint Venture: Partnership between two or more companies

3) Subsidiary: Company owned by a parent corporation

4) Others: Specify if none of the above apply

Your business sector (Single Select)

Please select only one answer that best describes your business sector.

1) Production sector 2) Service sector 3) Others

If your business produces goods, select the "Production sector".

If your business provides services, select the "Service sector".

If your business does not produce goods or provide services, select "Others.” If you selected “Others”, please describe your business type correctly.

Types of employees you have (Multiple Choice)

Please select all types of employees.

1) We have full-time employees.

2) We have part time employees (or) We just hire the people if I need for my business operation.

If your business has full-time employees only, select “1.”

If your business has part-time employees or hires people only when required, select “2.”

If your business has both full-time and part-time employees, select both options.

After making your selection, please type the number of employees under each type of employees you chose.

What kinds of equipment do you use for your business operation? (Multiple Choice)

Please select every type of equipment that your business uses. Based on your selection, follow-up questions will appear to collect more details about each type of equipment.

1) We use the building for office or business operations. 2) We use vehicles, such as cars or motorbikes, for your business operation. 3) We have ACs or Refrigerators for our business operation. 4) We have heating equipments, such as stove, boiler, etc. used for your business operation. 5) We use generators for our business operation.

Building

This topic will appear if you selected “We use the building for office or business operations.”

In this topic, you will be asked:

Vehicle

This topic will appear if you selected “We use vehicles for business operation.”

In this topic, you will be asked:

“Do you own or lease the vehicles for your business operation?” (Single Select)

Required data

Number of vehicles

Choose one relevant recording system and fill the data

Option 1 - Monthly average total travelled distance (km)

Option 2 - Type of fuel - Monthly average total fuel consumption (Litres)

Option 3 - Monthly average total amount of spending (MMK)

If your business owns the vehicles used for operation, select “1.”

If your business uses both owned and leased vehicles, select “3.”

If your business does not own or lease any vehicles and only uses public transport, select “4.”

After making your selection, please provide the number of vehicles by type. Then, indicate how your business records vehicle usage, by distance, fuel consumption, spending amount, or if no record is kept.

If you select the spending amount option, you may need to select the type that best represents most of your owned vehicles like Diesel used vehicles, Gasoline used vehicles or Gas used vehicles.

Cooling Equipment

This topic will appear if you selected “We use cooling equipment such as ACs or refrigerators for business operation.”

In this topic, you will be asked:

“Do you own or lease the cooling equipment at your workplace?” (Single Select)

Required data

Number of ACs and refrigerators

Types of gas used to fill in ACs and refrigerators - Yearly average total gas amount

Heating Equipment

This topic will appear if you selected “We use heating equipment at the workplace.”

In this topic, you will be asked:

Monthly average total fuel amount (litres) for heating equipment

Generator

This topic will appear if you selected “We use generators for business operation.”

In this topic, you will be asked:

“Do you use the generator(s) where your business operates?” (Single Select)

Required data

Generator’s capacity (kVA)

Type of fuel the generator use

Monthly average total fuel used by generators (ltres).

Monthly average total capacities purchased from third-party generator (kWh)

After making your selection, provide the generator’s capacity (kVA), the generator’s capacity purchased from third-party generator (kWh) and the type of fuel the generator use and the average total fuel used by generators per month (in litres).

Energy

This topic will always appear in the form.

In this topic, you will be asked:

“How is electricity supplied to your business?” (Multiple Choice)

Required data

Monthly average total electricity used by your business (kWh)

Types of renewable energy source

In this topic, you will be asked:

“How do your employees travel to and from the workplace?” (Multiple Select)

Mode of transportation by employees

Monthly total distance travelled per day by all employees (km)

If your employees travel in other mode of transportation, select “3.”

After making your selection, please provide the total distance (km) travelled per day by all employees commuting to work unless your business provides a ferry or public transport for employees and if they use other modes of transportation, please describe the mode of transportation used.

Waste Management

This topic will always appear in the form.

In this topic, you will be asked:

“What type of waste does the business produce?” (Multiple Choice)

1) Organic Waste (Biodegradable materials from food, plants, and other natural sources.) 2) Recyclable Waste (Paper, plastic, glass, and metals that can be reused or processed.) 3) General Waste (Non-recyclable, non-biodegradable items like mixed or contaminated materials.)

If your business produces organic waste, select “1.”

If your business produces non-hazardous waste, select “2.”

If your business produces hazardous waste, select “3.”

After selecting the waste types, please indicate whether your business systematically measures the waste. If yes, provide the monthly average total amount (kg) for each type of waste selected.

Regardless of measurement, please specify how your business manages the waste.
