Coaching session protocol

The following protocol may help you to bring structure, power and completion to your coaching practice.
You can use it as a template for each session and to inspire your questions.
STEP 1 - check-in
This step serves both welcoming your client and supporting him to create awareness and build powerful habits. Any or all of the following check-in questions can be useful here :
What has been his dominant mood?
What is his core energy at this moment?
What is his level of mental clarity ?
You can use at this stage.
STEP 2 - Integrity check
Check with your clients what he has accomplished since last session
This can go quick if you limit your request to assessing his/her commitment on a scale of 0 to 10.
STEP 3 - enquire for the learning.
what happened ?
what opened up ?
what have you learned ?
STEP 4 - create focus
what would you like to work on today ?
what do you want to focus on?
what would you like to get at the end of the session that you don’t have now ?
STEP 5 - coaching
Your questions should help your client to create the results he wants. This is the place where you connect your client to his own resources.

STEP 6 - Assignments and Commitments
This step boils down to getting your client making decision on what to do next. Help your client making choices that will inspire him, move him and touch him (connect with head, heart and gut).
What are you ready to commit to ?
What will, when achieved, will give you the most energy ?
Among the options you have listed, what the most inspiring ones?
What do you decide ?
What will you do ? By when ?

STEP 7 - closure
Help your client to get to the essence of what he got from the session.
