Pray

Why pray?

God listens to the cries of his people and responds in his power. Let us be people who pray on behalf of those who are being oppressed. The work of justice is difficult, and IJM staff and volunteers around the world need prayer in order to do this work.

How can you integrate prayer into your IJM chapter?

Include prayer as a regular part of your leadership meetings. Set aside time to pray through the most recent together (you can also sign up for ).
Encourage and equip campus ministry small groups on your campus to pray about abuse and oppression in specific countries and for the work of individuals and organizations combating injustice.
Organize weekly, monthly or quarterly prayer gatherings or vigils on your campus or in coordination with your church to involve a broader community in praying for victims of injustice.
Encourage local churches in the community to pray regularly for justice in the world and about specific cases of injustice.
Create a “prayer wall” at a chapter meeting or event. Share survivor stories from IJM’s website or YouTube channel. Provide paper and pens and ask students to write their prayers for IJM and the survivors we serve. Have them attach their prayers to the wall.
