What is the IJM Justice Council?
The Justice Council (JC) is a group of former IJM college leaders who provide ongoing support to IJM’s current college leaders! The JC is made up of trained volunteers, not full-time IJM employees, hoping to continue pursuing IJM’s mission of protecting people in poverty from violence. What does the Justice Council do?
The JC supports IJM chapters relationally, primarily by connecting with each chapter’s president or leadership team. JC leaders serve in a mentorship role to help college chapters as they pray, advocate, and fundraise.
What should I expect?
If you are a chapter president, you can expect to be assigned a JC mentor at the beginning of the academic year. Your mentor should be responsible for reaching out to you directly to coordinate an introductory meeting. Each JC-college leader relationship is unique and their level of involvement can be determined during your introductory meeting, but expect monthly check-ins from your JC mentor at a minimum. Also, your JC mentor should connect you with other regional IJM college leaders via a group chat. This is a great opportunity to learn from other chapters and praise the work happening at other universities!
Remember! Your JC mentor is a willing resource who wants to help your chapter thrive, so it is encouraged to reach out to them with any needs, concerns, or prayer requests.
