Week 7

Monday:
On Monday I started my day with TA AT265. In that class we were doing a lab with electric wiring. The goal was to correctly wire the landing gear lights so they would turn on and off. It took some time because the wiring had to be done exactly right for the lights to work. After that class I went to AT381 which is my aviation security class. In that class we watched other students present case studies. They were given fake security scenarios and had to explain how they would handle them. I did not have to participate in the presentations because I already have an ASC certificate, so I just listened and watched the presentations. After that class I was done for the day, so I went cycling for a little while and then made dinner when I got home.
Tuesday:
Tuesday started early because I had work from 7:00 am to 9:30 am as a student dispatcher. After work I went to AT219 where we talked about flight plans and also about our upcoming lab. We discussed different limitations with the Believer aircraft. After the lecture we went to the lab and practiced making our own flight plan using Ground Control for the Windracer drone aircraft. This was mostly a beginning trial run so we could get familiar with the process. After that we went to another lab room where we put our flight plan on a computer and practiced how communication would work in the field. Lucas and I worked together for this. I acted as the safety pilot and Lucas was the GCS operator. We pretended we were actually out in the field communicating during a flight. After that I went to AT362. During that class we found out that our company got dissolved which meant we were basically unemployed in the class project. We ended up joining another company instead. The whole situation was pretty stressful and honestly kind of annoying.
Wednesday:
Wednesday was pretty short and simple. We still do not have AT319 yet so my schedule was lighter. I went to AT335 first and we did another paper lab. The lab was about using a maintenance manual for a jet avionics system. It was mostly reading the manual and answering questions about it so it was not too difficult. After that I went to AT381 again and our teacher was finally back in class. We talked about different types of airline security and how they are used in the industry. Once that class ended I was able to go home since we still did not have our lab that day.
Thursday:
On Thursday I went to my AT362 class again. During that class we found out that the company we had just joined also got dissolved. Because of that we had to create a brand new company. Our group decided to create an EVTOL company that would operate aircraft instead of manufacturing them. Right now we are still waiting for the company to get approved for the project. After class I had a really long shift at work from 5:30 pm to 2:00 am because there were DNR flights that night. It ended up being a pretty long day overall.
Friday:
Friday was more relaxed compared to the rest of the week. I spent most of the day cleaning and getting things organized. Later on I went to visit my friend Sara at her house in Indianapolis. It was nice to get out for a bit and hang out after a busy week with classes and work.
