Week 2

This week was a little different than usual because we had Monday off, which was really nice. Since we didn’t have classes, I also didn’t have to TA, so it made the weekend feel longer and less stressful. Over the weekend, I mostly relaxed and spent time with people I enjoy being around. I hung out with my cousin, and we painted ceramic mugs together, which was actually really fun and a good way to unwind. My friend Sara also came over, and it was nice to just hang out without worrying about schoolwork for once.
On Tuesday, I went back into my normal routine. I had work from 7:00–9:30, and this was my first day not training at the student dispatch job. It felt good to finally be on my own, and I actually enjoyed it more than I expected. After work, I went to my AT 219 class. In that class, we had to write about an article that discussed a new office being opened to help with research involving control systems. The article mentioned that they had already been granted around 115 million dollars, which was honestly surprising and showed how important this research is.
After lecture, we went to AT 219 lab. During lab, we had to download software for a simulator that is mainly based on physics. For Mac users, this was pretty difficult and time-consuming, but since I have a Windows computer, it was a lot easier for me. I just had to go to the website and download the software. The simulator is called Seligsim, and once it was downloaded, we had to configure the controller to specific settings so it would act like it does in real life. After setting everything up, we had to record a video showing that the simulator was working correctly. It took some time, but eventually I got it to work.
Later that day, I went to AT 381, where we worked on our presentation that we would be giving in the next class. We mostly focused on organizing our slides and making sure we knew who was presenting what.
Wednesday was a really long day. I started the day by going to AT 319, where we were introduced to our upcoming lab that involves digitizing pictures. It was a lot of new information, but it seemed interesting and useful. After that, I went to AT 335, where we had to complete a 53-question fill-in-the-blank lab. The lab was based on basic knowledge for the course, such as AC and DC voltage and other electrical concepts. It was long and kind of exhausting, but it was manageable.
Later on Wednesday, I went back to AT 381 to present our presentation on PSA Flight 1771. The presentation went really well, and we ended up getting a 100%, which felt really good and made all the work worth it. After classes were over, I had an Aviation Ambassadors meeting from 7:00–8:00 pm. Once that ended, I went to the gym, which helped me clear my head, and then I had some ribs for dinner, which was definitely a highlight of the day.
On Thursday, I had the same classes as I did on Tuesday. Nothing too major happened in most of them, but overall it was a really good day. In aviation management, we had to present a quick press release, which is what we were working on in class. One of the guys in our group presented, and our company name for the project is Malibu Jet, which made it more fun and interesting.
Friday was a pretty laid-back day compared to the rest of the week. I had a Zoom meeting earlier in the day, and after that, I ran some errands. Later on, I went to dinner with Luke and two of our friends. It was a nice way to end the week and relax before getting ready for the next one.
