Learning
Principles
Quality > quantity - more important to focus in learning few things well
Use varied methods to learn, to help you keeping engaged: youtube, reading articles, books, audiobooks, podcasts, coaching/teaching
Balance more time learning and reflecting
Make sure you rest, science says a 20 min rest time after learning session improves the retention of knowledge
Space your learning through time (instead of cramming in one day) - spaced repetition
There are two different type of learning, which should use different ways to learn:
Indirect Intent
Goal is..
to fill my random curiosity. Build general knowledge that helps me connect dots (examples: learn about religion, physics)
I do it by..
let it happen spontaneous and let my mind wander; happen at bedtime, walks,
do it only if I am excited about it - It is always ok to leave a
indirect learning
book or podcast unfinished
My learn process is..
Have a notes for random knowledge, and add bits there when find insight; Also highlight on kindle
On sundays review the random knowledge and add to Coda
Direct Intent
Goal is..
to learn a specific skill that I require for a project (examples: React, AI, ADHD)
I do it by..
planning ahead and finding time whee I have full attention -should happen at peak times of my productivity (morning)
Doing regular reflection and codifying the learnings
keep it to 1, max 2 topics at a time
My learn process is..
define the plan (why and what is the goal)
breakdown the learning into what are the questions you want to answer
for each question think what is the best way to find the answer
codify the questions in a way that you can go back and use it

This is not the way.
