“It’s one thing to read the map. It’s another to ride the trail.”

This is a lesson that founder revisits in his recent newsletter after swapping the boardroom for a 125km gravel bike race in Australia.

Leading change isn’t about controlling every step of the journey – it’s about having the skill, awareness, and agility to respond in the moment.

Sounds nice, but what does this actually look like?

✅ Staying attuned to what’s emerging
✅ Adjusting without losing momentum
✅ Leading with presence, not just process

Plans matter. But delivering real-world performance in uncertain terrain requires the ability to adapt when things aren’t going to plan.
___

Check out Han Ee’s newsletter for insights from his gruelling introduction to gravel racing: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/shifting-gears-leading-change-two-wheels-boardroom-han-ee-lim-ogijc/

Isn't it amazing how 3,000+ metres of climbing on a bike and full-body cramps can lead to clarity? 😁

Looking for ICF-accredited coach training programs? Be sure to include this step in your search process:

🔎 Use the official search tool on the website.

(It's under Education & Professional Development > Find Coaching Education)

This is a great way to identify your training provider options.

And you can filter across a range of variables, including:

✅ Accreditation type
✅ Delivery method (virtual, in-person, hybrid)
✅ Training language

This is also the best way to confirm that a provider and its coaching programs are actually ICF accredited.

For example, if you’re interested in pursuing the ICF ACC credential, you’ll find our ICF Level 1–accredited program:

➡️ The Performance Coach

Or if you’re aiming for ICF ACTC certification, you’ll find our ICF AATC–accredited program:

➡️ The Team Coach

When it comes to finding the right coach training program, it’s important to find the right fit – and this includes due diligence to ensure that training providers and programs are properly accredited.

In coaching conversations, intention drives impact. Here’s why…

💡 When we bring awareness to how we show up as coaches in coaching conversations – through powerful questioning, deep listening, and staying present even under pressure – we create more space for transformation.

This was one of the key takeaways from our recent Coaching Fundamentals session: “通过有意识的对话进行影响力辅导 | Coaching for Impact with Intentional Dialogue”, led by veteran coaches Michelle Yan and Han Ee Lim.

A big thank you to all the participants who joined the session and contributed to the conversation with questions and insights.

Together, we explored:

✔️ How intention shapes the quality of our dialogue
✔️ Techniques to stay grounded and present
✔️ Practical tools that can be applied immediately in coaching and leadership contexts

If you found last week’s session valuable, don’t miss our next one TOMORROW:

🚨 将教练洞察转化为持久变革 | Turning Coaching Insights into Lasting Change 🚨

Michelle and Han Ee will share how to move coaching conversations from awareness to sustainable impact using proven tools like the ABCM of Motivation and PEL Triangle.

Most organizational change efforts focus on process. But the most effective ones?

They focus on people.

According to Emerge Performance founder Han Ee Lim, there are 3Cs that drive effective and lasting change in organizations, and all 3 involve people:

🔹 Clarity – Everyone understanding not just what to do, but why it matters.

🔹 Connections – Between people and across silos, drawing strength from interdependencies.

🔹 Culture – The shared mindset and norms that shape how people show up.

Plans and KPIs are necessary, but the real work of change involves helping people move together, using the 3Cs to overcome resistance and reinforce forward momentum.

💫 If you’ve previously led or supported organizational change efforts, what other success factors would you add to the 3Cs?

🌍 Behind the scenes at Emerge Performance this week…

Sometimes, when you're deep in the rush of doing the work, it’s easy to miss the bigger picture.

But every now and then, we like to pause and take stock of the incredible things happening simultaneously across our global team – all in support of our shared mission to grow The Coaching Village (https://bit.ly/43mmkuG) and empower coaches worldwide.

Here’s a glimpse of what EP teammates around the world are up to this week:

🟩 China: Our Singapore-based founder is on the ground in Shanghai strengthening partnerships and preparing to run a 2-day Coaching High-Performance Teams workshop (19–20 July) alongside faculty member and members of our China marketing team.

🟩 India: OD expert is leading this month’s AMA session on Agility in Action (16 July), exploring how OD professionals can build change-ready organizations.

🟩 Netherlands: Our CMO is busy refining strategy, reviewing content, and planning an upcoming high-profile panel discussion in August.

🟩 Indonesia: Two teammates are updating our website, platforms, and operational infrastructure to launch two new flagship programs.

🟩 United States: A teammate is developing new e-learning content (English + Chinese) for two of our coach training programs.

🟩 Malaysia: Two teammates are crafting a new China-focused marketing campaign and shaping our community engagement strategy.

🟩 Turkey: A teammate is powering the engine behind our visibility with various design, content, and SEO initiatives.

🟩 Singapore: A teammate is building out our coaching resource hub and refining our event strategy to keep our calendar impactful and inspiring.

…And that’s just what’s happening on the coach training & development side of our business this week, which doesn’t even include the coaching services and consulting sides of our business.

✨ The takeaway?

None of this would be possible without teamwork.

For us, that means collaboration, communication, and accountability in equal measure.

We’re grateful for the way every teammate shows up – not just to deliver great work, but to help shape a global coaching ecosystem rooted in growth, generosity, and purpose.

To the EP team (, , , Bella, , , Malinder, , , Yu Xin): thank you. 🙏

To our global coaching community: we’re building all of this for you. 💙

Change isn’t hard – making it stick is.

70% of change efforts fail. Not because people resist, but because organizations often forget to bring them along.

When people aren’t engaged, when culture isn’t ready, or when plans are too rigid, change loses momentum fast.

So… How can we make change stick?

➡️ By placing agility at the heart of organizational development.

We unpacked this in our latest blog post:

➖ Why most change efforts fall short
➖ How OD supports real agility
➖ What actually helps change take root

Alignment isn’t the same as agreement.
And it definitely isn’t the same as performance.

Too often, we walk out of meetings assuming we’re aligned…

✅ The plan looks solid
✅ Everyone nodded
✅ No objections raised

But when work starts moving?

❌ Priorities shift
❌ Misunderstandings emerge
❌ Momentum stalls

As our founder Han Ee Lim shared recently in his newsletter, real alignment requires more than conceptual agreement – it demands active sense-making, connection, and continual recalibration.

It’s not enough to be “on the same page.”

We need to be moving in the same direction, at the same pace, with shared ownership.

➡️ Now over to you: How do you check for real alignment in your team or organization?

Business transformation isn’t a new concept. So what has changed to make agility so important?

One big difference: in the past, business transformation was an event.

Clear plans, timelines, roles, and responsibilities – all mapped out in advance.

These days?

In many industries and organizations, business transformation has shifted from a planned event to an ongoing process.

And this requires agility.

One of the key takeaways from our July Ask Me Anything session this week:

💡 Agility is crucial for navigating rapidly changing business environments and competitive landscapes, but it is most effective when paired with some degree of stability.

The two together – agility with stability – is what enables organizations to achieve:

✔️ Speed without burnout
✔️ Flexibility without confusion
✔️ Decentralization without chaos
✔️ Innovation without reinventing the wheel

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Wednesday’s session and to Lalit Jagtiani, our business transformation expert, for leading the session!

Missed the session or want to revisit it? Watch the full recording here:

How does team coaching differ from other interventions?
.
.
.
➖ Facilitators guide
➖ Mentors share
➖ Trainers teach
➖ Consultants advise
➖ Coaches support the individual

But team coaches? They do something entirely different – and increasingly essential.

⏩ Team coaches invite entire teams to think together, reflect together, and co-create their way forward.

Want to see team coaching in action?

💥Join us for two upcoming Observed Team Coaching trial sessions💥

✅ See ICF Team Coaching Competencies put into practice
✅ Learn through structured debriefs & real-time feedback

These sessions are part of The Team Coach (our ICF AATC–accredited team coaching program), but we’ve opened up these two trial sessions for anyone who’s curious about team coaching.

Not all misalignment is a threat.
Sometimes, it’s the best signal we’ve got that something deeper needs attention.

Instead of rushing to fix it – pause.
.
.
.
Misalignment can highlight:
➖ A shift in priorities
➖ Unspoken disagreements
➖ Diverse worldviews worth exploring

As our founder Han Ee Lim recently wrote in his newsletter:

💡 Misalignment isn’t just noise – it can be a valuable signal.

When leaders and coaches treat misalignment as data, not dysfunction, it becomes a gateway to deeper dialogue, realignment, and growth.

Check out Han Ee’s thoughts on learning from misalignment here:

Coaching High-Performance Teams | Shanghai Workshop Recap
On July 19 & 20, we successfully concluded the Coaching High-Performance Teams (CHPT) 2-day workshop in Shanghai.

This immersive, in-person session brought together 23 participants—ranging from organizational leaders to professional coaches—for a dynamic blend of theory, tools, and practice grounded in global coaching standards.

Led by veteran coaches Han Ee Lim and Michelle Yan, the program explored the core elements that drive high-performing teams: ✅ Empowerment through coaching dialogues ✅ Psychological safety and systems thinking ✅ Team coaching models and diagnostics ✅ Practical tools like P.L.U.S. and 4-stage team diagnosis

💡 A few highlights from the experience:
Real-time case discussions that sparked fresh insights
Lively group presentations on complex coaching scenarios
A deep dive into how to "coach the system", not just individuals

🎙️ What participants said:
“The instructor’s insights were profound, and they struck the right balance between intensity and reflection.” “The hands-on exercises and real-world application really brought the concepts to life.” “I hope to join more of these events—it was rich, practical, and thought-provoking.”
This workshop delivered more than just knowledge—it was a professional exchange, a coaching lab, and a space for growth.

🔗 Whether you're a leader aiming to strengthen team effectiveness or a coach looking to deepen your practice, CHPT offers tools and perspectives to elevate your impact.

Let’s keep building high-performing teams—one conversation at a time.
