Live Camera Window

The Live Camera window is what you first see when you have given CueCam all the permissions it needs.

Toolbar

The tool shows the status of connected iPhone and iPad apps, and lets you quickly access the Program Window and Dashboard.

Shoot Button

If you don’t have Shoot yet, this menu will show you what it does and how to get it.

Shoot Menu

You’ll see a button for each connected device that’s running Shoot.
shoot-settings
Device Name
Program Feed Checkbox
If you want to use this device as an extra screen, turn on “Send program feed to Shoot”
Program Feed Dropdown
Select what you want to show on the device’s screen with the dropdown menu. This will show the windows of any currently-running apps
Available Cameras
Select a camera to see its remote controls. In the picture we see “Front Camera 1080p30 is selected”. A different camera can be selected by clicking one of the other rows below.
Camera Settings
Adjust a device’s settings remotely from this menu.
Zoom
The device’s zoom level. This is relatively to the centre of the image.
If you are using a Shoot device as a second camera, it’s possible to zoom in on other areas.
EV
If the camera’s exposure is locked (by long-pressing the screen on a point of interest) then the EV setting adjusts the relative brightness of the image.
In most cases you’ll use the manual ISO and Shutter Speed directly. In future I’ll make the focus lock work better remotely.
ISO
ISO is a measure of camera exposure. The lower, the darker, the higher, the brighter. In dark conditions, a high ISO can introduce visual noise.
Shutter Speed
The shutter speed controls how often the camera image is refreshed, and for how long. A higher shutter speed lets less light in, so is darker, but allows you to reduce motion blur. A low shutter speed will be brighter but will have more motion blur.
If you are shooting a screen or flickering lights, you can mitigate this by selecting a matching shutter speed - so if your electricity is at 50Hz, select 1/50 to stabilise the image.
White Balance (WB)
The White Balance setting controls the camera’s “Colour Temperature”. This is how “warm” (red/orange end of the spectrum) or “cool” (blue end of the spectrum) the image is.
Tint
Tint is another white balance setting that lets you shift between a green and purple tint.
Face Follow
When using Shoot with CueCam, Shoot can automatically follow and crop into your face, keeping it centred.
This is useful when you are using CueCam’s Picture In Picture feature as it will keep your face in the middle of the circle.
This feature should be disabled for the new “Clean” slide format during presentations as your camera crop will be controlled directly in CueCam.
Rate
Rate controls how quickly your face is tracked. Higher numbers will result in jerky effect.
Scale
Scale affects how cropped the camera will be while following your face. If a lot of movement is needed, you can change this value to prevent the black edge of the frame coming into view.

Video Pencil Indicator - shows you where to get video pencil and whether it’s connected

# Video Pencil Menu - Go through each control when connected.
# Program Button Opens up the program window. This is a window that you can share in Zoom or Teams if you want to take over the screen, or if you want to display CueCam’s output in-house, you can full-screen this to a HDMI projector or tv output
# Program Window Gives you a clean feed but if you hover you get some controls. Set a specific resolution or full-screen. Double-click the window to full screen.
#Dashboard — NEED TO DECIDE WHAT THIS WILL ACTUALLY SHOW
# License, Recording and Connections The next row shows your license status on the left. Then you have a record button and an area that indicates which apps are currently using the virtual camera.
# Recording You can press this button to start recording whatever CueCam is showing. Press Finish when you’re done. Click the button to show the file in Finder. Right-click the button for a deep link to toggle recording. Use the menu to mark recordings or trash them.
# Camera Preview This is the live camera preview. This shows what’s going to other applications. If a video is playing then you’ll see the playback controls here, but these will not be visible in other apps or recordings. You can drop images and videos into this area to share them on your feed. There is a right-click menu that lets you access just about everything.
# Mic Button The mic button will show a warning if no mic is selected, or if your preferred mic is not available.
You can select a mic with the button here, or by right-clicking.
The meter by the button is a LUFS meter, a standardised measure of loudness that is more accurate than what you’ll see in other applications. IF you’re too loud, the camera preview will show a warning making it harder to miss audio problems
Click the button to instantly mute and unmute the mic.
# Mic Menu When a mic is selected, you’ll see a few more options in the menu.
Settings pops up the level meter. This volume control will set the input at the hardware level and will match whatever you see in your system Sound settings
