Burnout

You deserve a good break. So sit back.

Burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by excessive and prolonged stress. It occurs when you feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, and unable to meet constant demands. () This can be from anything, whether it’s a toxic friendship/relationship, school, work, or activism. It’s important to put your mental health first ❤️
The Resilience Project on Instagram: "whether it’s at school, in climate groups, at Uni or at your job: stop celebrating burnout. excessive work and stress are often celebrated because it defines you as ‘more’ activist, ‘more’ committed, or ‘more’ professional. we’re calling out this culture as toxic. burnout should not be strived for: it shouldn’t be considering a badge of doing meaningful work. rather, it can be a reminder that your work-life balance is off. hard work, joy and rest can and should co-exist. the first step in making this happen is to stop glorifying exhaustion, nudge friends who are over-working, and give yourself permission to rest. ✨ n.b: what’s burnout? burnout is a commonly used term for deep exhaustion. in psychology it is a cognitive process which happens over time. it is more prevalent for those on the front-lines of climate change such as indigenous, Global South and MAPA activists. if you are suffering from burnout we recommend speaking to counselling for social change, which provides professional support for those working in social change spaces. #burnout #activism #youth #climatechange #wellbeing #resilience"

How to deal with burnout

Find what’s making you burnout. It can either be family life, school life, activism or anything else.
Identify any immediate changes you can make. Accept that doing everything can’t be realistic, but you can delegate tasks to others or ask for help :))
Talk to people you trust. If it’s difficult for you to find what’s making you burnout, talk to someone about it! Just explaining your problems instead of keeping it to yourself can help a lot ❤️
Set boundaries. It may be difficult, but your mental health matters! Tell the person or acknowledge what is overworking you and limit yourself to tasks that are feasible for you and won’t burn you out.
Love yourself :)) Practice gratitude, cause you and me are wonderful human beings who deserve kindness/compassion.
Take a break from something that drains you or you cannot handle at the moment. More info here!
