Don’t drink, consume, or wash food implements using the water from the lab faucets. These are reserved for experiments and for participants’ use.
Kitchen sinks with drinkable water are available on each floor.
A hot water dispenser is available in the shared kitchen on every floor.
Wash cutlery, cups and containers only in the kitchen sink.

Food

Microwave ovens are available on the 5th floor
There are fridges in:
VR lab
shared office
sensorised kitchen (this fridge is not supposed to contain personal item and is to be used for experimental purposes only)
There are drinks in the VR lab fridge. Please reserve their consumption for events.
Label your food items, remember to bin what you don’t use and keep the fridge clean by wiping any spills. Expect that items without labels or expired will be binned on Friday every week.
In Touch lab- The model is Nespresso Vertuo. Bring your own pods. Pods can be purchased
In the shared kitchen there are several coffee machines that can be used.

Heating/cooling

There are 3 thermostats under the windows of the VR lab. They should be kept around 2-3. To save energy, try lowering all 3 of them instead of opening the window.
The top windows can be tilt-opened using the crank, whereas the bottom windows can be tilt-opened after unlocking the handle. Make sure to lock the windows when you leave the lab (handles should be horizontal).

Electricity and Lighting

Room illumination can be controlled using two panels, one situated near the swipe card door, the other on the left of the sink (which might be occluded by the stored material)
If you have or use a toaster, unplug it after every use
Do not daisy chain extension leads
Prioritise the use of wall plugs instead of ceiling plugs. Ceiling plugs should be employed only for stable setups, so to avoid risking pulling the plug from the ceiling.
To save energy, turn off lighting when leaving the lab
Do not use air heaters. The only heaters approved to be used in the lab should be oil-based. They should be plugged in only when you are present.

Research equipment

Equipment is managed using QR codes. Use your camera phone to check out the main pieces of equipment and computer that you use, and remember to check them back in when you finish. If any equipment breaks down, you will need to mark it as “needs repairs” in the database. Please refer to the for further information.
