Innovation is global and the best companies to invest behind can come from anywhere. At , we invest in growth-stage companies in the US, Europe, and China. With one fund and a global team, we strive to be efficient, collaborative, and data-driven in our work and decision-making. Over the last year, we have been augmenting our investment workflow by developing a quantitative VC platform that we call Q. Q is an in-house predictive AI platform that can scan, rank, and highlight over 700,000 companies, and signal which ones within our investment themes are trending, based on more than 300 different growth indicators. With Q, we discover the most promising companies in real time, reduce decision-making bias, and monitor market developments.
Like many other investors, our business used to run on traditional spreadsheets and documents. Spreadsheets kept track of companies we met or followed, industry taxonomies lay buried in slides, and our communications with companies were siloed in individual partners’ email accounts. But since we believe the future of venture capital is data-driven, we decided to bring these disparate parts together in Coda and connected it to Q.
This is the pipeline management part of our Coda implementation - we are sharing this as a published doc to help you organize your investment process. We hope this template helps you automate your own investment workflow. Ping us on or and let us how you like it! How do I start?

More in detail
Import data into the Tracker. You can do this via APIs or you can enter it manually from Pitchbook, Crunchbase, or other data sources. After that, you can easily follow recent funding rounds, see related market developments, and go through the list with your team each week. Use the interactive buttons to move companies to ⏰ Monitor (”decide later”) , 👍 Pipeline , or 👎 Declined.
Follow up later. If you are interested in a company, but the time is not yet right, keep it in "For Evaluation” status.
For all prospects in the investment process. You can add a company straight to this Pipeline list or move it from Tracker or Monitor by updating the status. Companies can be Candidates when you are in discussion with your partners and move to the Term Sheet status once you have decided to invest, but are waiting to close the investment. Companies move to the Portfolio (or Declined) status from this Pipeline stage.
These are your investments. Follow their progress in one place. You can add a company directly to your Portfolio or move it from the Tracker or Pipeline status.
Your anti-portfolio! These are the companies you considered and passed on. Track the reasons you passed on these investments and see patterns over time.
Link your Gmail and Coda will automatically follow who from your team has been in contact with the company, and when the company responded.
