Transitioning WePay Account

Instead of making changes to each of your WePay Accounts (the entity that processes transactions and routes money to your organization), we recommend simply transferring the WePay User (the authenticating user) that has ownership of each of your WePay Accounts to the new Treasurer.
Typically organizations setup up WePay in one of two ways:
Create a new WePay User using the organization's shared email address (e.g. or )
Create a new WePay User using a personal email address (e.g. )
Each requires a different method to transition to a new Treasurer:
If your WePay User's email address is a shared email address
Having your organization's WePay User using a shared email address is the recommended method and makes for the easiest officer transition. We'll just need to give access to the new Treasurer and then have them update the password to reestablish security of the WePay User:
Have the outgoing Treasurer tell the incoming Treasurer the WePay User email address and password combination.
The incoming Treasurer can then log into WePay at from desktop or laptop computer using Chrome or Firefox
Click the Security tab on the left
On the Identity tab, click the Edit button next to the current password
Enter the old password, then the new password twice (your new password must be at least 6 digits long and contain both a letter and a number)
Click the Update button
Now the new Treasurer has access to the WePay User that owns your organization's WePay Accounts. Back in your website the new Treasurer can navigate to the Manage page then select Setup/Manage Online Payments to ensure the connection between your website and WePay is still established. If the page requests you to re-authenticate with WePay, use the WePay User email address and newly updated password to re-establish the connection with WePay. Review your WePay Accounts and ensure at least one of them shows the Dues and Fees tag or choose to add it to a WePay Account if none are showing the tag.
If your WePay User's email address is a personal email address
We recommend creating a single universal WePay User to represent your organization using a chapter email address when completing the initial set up of WePay inside your website, and simply share the password with the incoming Treasurer and have them change it to maintain security. But if you had an existing WePay User or decided to instead create a WePay User using a personal email address of the Treasurer for example, below are the steps to transition this WePay User from your outgoing Treasurer to your newly elected Treasurer (or convert it to a shared WePay User):
Have the outgoing Treasurer log into WePay at on a computer
Click the Security tab on the left
On the Identity tab, click the Edit button next to the current registered email address
Enter the new email address (to avoid having to do this transition steps each year, we recommend using a chapter email address and then simply pass along the WePay User password to the new Treasurer and have them updated the password to maintain security)
Click the Update button, which will send a verification email to the new email address
Have the outgoing Treasurer share the WePay User's password with the incoming Treasurer
Have the incoming Treasurer open the confirmation email and follow the instructions to verify the new email address
Once the email address has been changed, the new Treasurer should use it to log in to WePay at from desktop or laptop computer using Chrome or Firefox and change the password to maintain security of the WePay User following the remaining steps to ensure security of the WePay User login credentials
Click the Security tab on the left
On the Identity tab, click the Edit button next to the current password
Enter the old password, then the new password twice (your new password must be at least 6 digits long and contain both a letter and a number)
Click the Update button
Now that the WePay User has been transitioned to the new Treasurer, no changes are required to the individual WePay Accounts that your organization has already set up within your CAA site. To ensure the connection between your CAA site and WePay is still active, it is recommended to log in to your website and click on Manage from the main navigation bar, then choose Setup/Manage Online Payments. If the page requests you to re-authenticate with WePay, use the newly updated email address and password to re-establish the connection with WePay. Review your WePay Accounts and ensure at least one of them shows the Dues and Fees tag or choose to add it to a WePay Account if none are showing the tag.
