🎥 Video Upload & Processing Security

When you upload a video to Vergo for ergonomic analysis, it is processed with privacy and safety in mind:

End-to-End Encryption: Videos are encrypted directly in your browser before being transmitted to Vergo servers via SSL.

Automatic Deletion: Once processed, videos are automatically deleted. We do not retain video files unless explicitly requested.

Privacy Features: We offer optional face-blurring and background-blurring upon request, ensuring anonymity for workers.

No Personal Data Logged: We only track the number of videos submitted and their total file size—for billing purposes only.

🌐 Web Portal & Cloud Mode Security

Users accessing Vergo through the web portal have access to additional features like saved reports and team-level analytics. In “Cloud Mode,” Vergo securely stores encrypted data to enable ongoing access and aggregation.

🔒 How We Protect Stored Data

Encrypted Before Upload: Files are encrypted using asymmetric encryption before they ever leave your device.

Private Key Ownership: Your private encryption key is generated through Virgil Security and never stored on our servers.

AES 128-bit Encryption: In addition to asymmetric encryption, we apply AES symmetric encryption before storing files.

Built on AWS Infrastructure: All data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS), using their secure, distributed cloud storage with redundancy and added encryption layers.

Internal Access Controls: Even Vergo’s internal team cannot access your encrypted files. Only authorised system administrators can manage infrastructure—and never see your data.

🛡️ Post-Breach Privacy Protection

In the unlikely event of a server breach, your data remains protected:

Videos are encrypted with private keys that only you control. These are stored locally on your device, protected by your own password.

Since we do not store your private key, even a compromised server provides no usable data to a potential attacker.

This is called post-breach privacy, a modern standard in data protection that makes data unreadable even if it’s accessed without authorization.

For Employers Using Vergo

As an employer, it's important to ensure transparency and obtain appropriate consent when collecting video recordings of employees — even when used for safety and ergonomics purposes. While Vergo processes all video securely, your internal policies should still reflect the purpose and scope of this data collection.

Below is suggested wording you may wish to include in employee agreements, onboarding materials, or internal safety policies. This helps demonstrate respect for privacy, builds trust with your team, and supports compliance with privacy legislation such as PIPEDA in Canada or other applicable frameworks.

📄 Sample Consent Clause: Use of Video for Ergonomic Assessment

As part of our commitment to workplace health and safety, [Company Name] may use video-based ergonomic analysis tools to assess posture and movement related to specific job tasks.

Short video recordings may be captured for the sole purpose of evaluating physical movements using Vergo — a third-party software platform that applies computer vision and motion analysis to identify ergonomic risk factors.

These recordings are used exclusively for safety and ergonomics purposes and will not be used for performance reviews, disciplinary action, or surveillance. Video data is processed securely, and Vergo’s platform offers privacy safeguards such as face and background blurring, as well as automatic deletion of video files after analysis.

By signing this agreement, you acknowledge that you have been informed of the purpose of video capture and consent to the collection and use of this data strictly for ergonomic risk assessment.

📋 Security FAQ

Does Vergo store my videos after processing? No. Videos are deleted automatically after the analysis is complete, unless you’ve requested long-term storage.

Can Vergo employees see my videos or reports? No. All data is encrypted before it reaches our servers. We never store private encryption keys, and our team has no access to video content.

Where is my data stored? All data is securely stored on AWS, across multiple physical locations with redundant protection and high uptime.

Is Vergo compliant with data privacy laws? Yes. Vergo follows best practices aligned with leading privacy regulations, including PIPEDA (Canada) and GDPR (Europe). We’re also continuously improving our compliance posture as we scale.
