In the beginning, God set aside the 7th day of the week to be holy. That day, the Sabbath, was to be a day of rest from work. Upon the resurrection of Christ, however, things changed. Christians now find their rest in the finished work of Jesus. We gather on "The Lord's Day" to remember and participate in the remarkable truth that we have already entered into God's rest, and in anticipation of the day when the sun will never set on our rest in the new heavens and the new earth. (John 19:30, Heb. 4:10, 1 Cor. 16:2)
