Doxology comes from a Greek word meaning "glory saying." Our theology (knowledge of God) drives our doxology (response in worship). Theology isn't just for "elite" Christians; every Christian is a theologian. The real question is are we good theologians or bad ones. Each Sunday we gather to remember who God is and what he has done. This, in turn, fuels our hearts' propensity to give praise to God. When we consider the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God how can we keep from singing? "For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." (Rom. 11:36)
