Arrive at 7:55am. Turn on the sound system. Load “Default” scene on the SQ6 soundboard.
Input setup. Find out if any stage inputs need to be adjusted (e.g., an extra input for violin, or removing a mic for a sick singer).
Make mix/service notes. Grab a worship guide from behind the Welcome Desk to make notes on the Order of Service. Confirm with pastor/leader whether there are any unlisted elements (e.g., announcement or interview before Pastoral Prayer).
Perform a line check. Use the talkback in the booth mic to call out each input to make sure a signal is coming through and that each channel is labeled appropriately (including lectern/baptismal if needed).
Prepare wireless mic(s). After practice, install the pastor’s wireless mic batteries from the charger.
Prepare sermon audio recording. Name the file: MM.DD.YYY.Lastname.mp3
Lock and load. Be in the sound booth 15 minutes before the service begins. People will know where to find you if they have any problems or last minute requests.
Expect last minute requests.
Service Time
Perform active mixing. Make mix changes that benefit the sound (volume/eq/etc) now that the congregation has filled the room. Watch for monitor change signals from musicians.
Record the sermon. Use the laptop to record the audio in Reaper. Begin when the scripture reader walks up to the lectern.
Notes. Take note of any technical issues that need to be addressed after the service.
Post-Service
Shut down. Turn off the speakers first. Wait 20 seconds. Then shut down the sound board and turn it off.
Communicate. Let the leader know if there are any technical issues to be addressed.
