In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul tells the church to prepare for communion by examining (v28) and judging (v31) themselves. Paul also warns against taking communion in an unworthy manner. So, as we spend time in silence before taking the body and blood, reflect on Christ's redeeming work and consider whether you need to confess and repent of any sins against God or your fellow brothers and sisters gathered here this morning. By taking our sin seriously, we remind ourselves of why it is we so desperately need the cross.
