This hymn, was written in 1862 by Joseph Gilmore as a reflection on Psalm 23. The imagery of a shepherd guiding his people to still waters appears in our sermon text today as well. Isaiah 49:10: "for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them." Here are the words to the first verse. Follow along and meditate on this as the piano plays it as our offertory.
He leadeth me: O blessed thought!
O words with heavenly comfort fraught!
Whate'er I do, where'er I be,
still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me.
