A traditional greeting on Easter is the exclamation, "He is risen!" The customary response is "He is risen, indeed!" Even great traditions can lose their purpose when their original meaning is forgotten. These words remind us of the incredible, life-changing news that we celebrate on this Easter Sunday. The suffering and death that Jesus took on himself was not in vain. Because of his resurrection we can celebrate the fact that he has defeated death, sin and the devil. He is risen indeed!
