I hate to waste food. My friends always make jokes about how I wanna save every food, even what they consider unsaveable.
The idea is see each step of what happened to products
Vision Statement:
Clearly understandable product-information and healthy diet available to everyone
Mission Statement:
Trace.Market with Omnipass creates a world with transparent supply-chains that lead to up-cycling waste and locally growing nutritious food while creating fair working opportunities during the process.
Pathway for Sustainability:
Trace.Market helps organisation achieve transparent supply-chains and accelerate up-cycling while empowers consumers to make sustainable decisions based on clear product-information of OmniPass. We use a unique combination of levers such as EU regulation of DPP, economic incentives based on foreseeing the value of saved waste, the technology of blockchain which makes the dataflow transparent and accessible
The main idea is to make supply-chains more transparent by collecting information of each step of the supply-chain into an interoperable database stored on blockchain (Can be during production, harvest, distribution or consumption and include steps where its wasted or lost). We are working on a marketplace where people or companies can trade with saveable or saved materials/ingredients through storing the ownerships with NFTs. Then with this data we can prevision the ecological effect of them, which helps to visualize, categorize and eco-tag products in a way that helps the consumers and decision-makers evaluate whenever they need to. Here is the basic intro of our platform:
Here is the list of few products uploaded: If you click on a date it will open a specific page like this that include map and other important data:
We start with foodchain but the similar approach or methods can be used in other fields too.
I want to address < your problem area > for < your target group > Ex: A mental health for teenagers
using < your secret sauce - that what makes you special > Ex: through engaging stories.
that I can do < your constraints > Ex: with only 10 hours of my week
So that < articulate your needs > Ex: it will help me become a thought leader in this space.
Now, craft it all together and refine it over time.
I want to address the unacceptable worldwide food waste & global hunger involving individuals, organisations and governance agencies using a transparent and easily understandable supply-chain tracking platform built on decentralized blockchain with a marketplace leveraging innovative technologies that I can do with focusing on this project 2 days of each week so that we can all acces tailored action-plans of how to make more sustainable solutions.
Vision: Why?
Everyone deserves access (as a right) to transparent information about the products we purchase, especially about food and drinks. Healthy and balanced diet can be provided by up-cycling food-waste and locally growing nutricious food, which when produced can create fair working opportunities too.
Vision: To make 'healthy and balanced diet' available to everyone as A BASIC HUMAN RIGHT through up-cycling food-waste and locally growing nutricious food in a way that creates fair working opportunities in the process.
Personally: I grew up in a large family where food was always appreciated and valued, so it taught me how to treat it right and how not to waste it. As I’ve seen hunger in many places (e.g. egypt and mauritania), in my adult life I’m trying my best to respect it, buy saved food or up-cycle leftovers. It feels right ethically and makes sense financially too.
Simply:
Instead of wasting food, let’s up-cycle it
Situation:
There are approx 7,6 billion people living on earth currently, which will increase to 8.6 billion by 2030, and almost 10 billion by 2050, which means that our civilization needs to provide fair living circumstances for them, like: shelter, food, water, nutrients, peaceful lives.
Complication:
Food waste is not treated properly, not saved.
Question:
Could the saving of food-waste solve these basic human needs? How can we reach that? Could transparent supply-chains help the process? What new technologies are evolving that can contribute to that?
Feedbacks from Alondra:
Too general... How can we reduce foodwaste? How can feed the hungry people? (Like changing moral of society about the issue) Like a sharing system... Specify the situation more.
Answer:
Why is it important for me?
I personally spent&spending a lot of time trying to understand connections between sustainability issues and my personal effect on them through my lifestyle and consumption, however I faced the difficulty on evaluating what is actually better for the common good. So through my own innerstanding & lifelong learning I would like to stay on the top of the wave of sustainability innovation and management, while cooperating with and helping others do the same.
Problem to address:
Sustainability is such a complicated topic that it is difficult to see the connection between action and their waves of consequences. Interoperable platforms and tools are needed to help everyone (individuals, companies, organisations) to make the right decisions in specific situations.
Because of a lack of transparency and ineffective information exchange HUMANS (who) often don’t know or have the ability to choose the more sustainable solutions (what) which leads to irresponsible use/treatment/access of human right and natural resources.
The interconnectedness of sustainability solutions requires (leads me to create) a sort of interactive “sample/template” that is flexible enough to be used to connect problems and solutions in/of each dimensions.
→ We are working on prototyping the sample on the most important problems such as FOOD WASTE & HUNGER. It is a unique combination of interconnectedness where one problem (Foodwaste) could be the main source of a solution to another problem (Hunger, malnutrition)
Shockingly, of all food produced for human consumption is wasted each year and this alone is responsible for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions. () → With six years left to reach the target 12.3 of , there is an urgent need to accelerate action to reduce food loss and waste. Food is lost in every step of the food “life cycle”
Agricultural production (e.g. fields) Postharvest handling and storage In fields food is lost due to crop pests and diseases. Food is also lost because of inefficient harvesting methods, transportation and storage. And food is wasted through the deliberate discarding of food in shops, supermarkets, and households.
The largest source of food waste is in the production phase where over 500 million tons is lost due to things like crop pests and ineffective harvesting and irrigation. This is followed by “postharvest handling and storage” and “consumption” both with around 350 million tons. These three phases account for around 75% of all food waste. But there are potentials for reducing food waste in all six steps!
Other resources:
Who is it serving?
Individuals or representatives of companies/governance-agencies to make the right decisions → Therefore it is serving everone
Objective: Understand the problem deeply.
Who are you serving?
Identify your target audience. Is there a problem to solve? Is this the right problem to solve? What is unsaid about the problem?
The norms, the culture & the mental models related to the problem.
Objective: Build a solid foundation with existing knowledge. Ask
Review existing research like books, articles, and online resources. Identify assumptions and gaps in the current knowledge. Ask: 'Do I have any data about my specific community?'
Develop a Plan and Collect Data
Objective: Outline your data collection strategy
Research Plan: Outline how you will gather data. Primary Research: Obtain firsthand insights (interviews, surveys) Secondary Research: Learn from existing studies and data. Qualitative Insights: Gather opinions, stories, and experiences. Quantitative Insights: Collect numerical data and statistics.
Center your research around user needs.
Where are they going right now? How is their need being solved? (via a product or any other way)? What’s their story?
Understand their life, hopes, fears, and frustrations. Why does this matter to them? Will this project make their life better? Would they be willing to pay/advocate for it? What’s stopping them from resolving it now?
Testing Assumptions.
Now that we've identified a problem that's impactful yet manageable with our resources, our next step is to conduct thorough research to eliminate assumptions.
List all unknowns about the project. What are things that you think you know - you just have a hunch and feel like it might be true - the ‘assumptions’? Next, how can I validate these assumptions?
Participants record their experiences at specific times. (notes, videos, voice, pictures, etc.) No image alternative text Ethnography
Living the life of the user/the observed. People's behavior is studied in everyday contexts No image alternative text Check-in at specific times for real-time feelings. No image alternative text Take descriptive field notes, build trust, and report your own experiences.
