History Before Re-branding

Before it was called Polygon, the Project was called Matic (Network)

Matic was started in 2017 with 3 founders

Matic Token was distributed through the Binance Launchpad IEO

April 2019

Matic Network main net went live in Mid 2020

Increasing gas fees on Ethereum lead to more attention

Re-branded to Polygon in the beginning of 2021
