In general, we mean it as a way to find information in a corpus of documents (the web, wikipedia, movies, medical records, ...) given a particular query, in a generative way. “generative” can be understood in lot of ways: including, but not limited to, some mentioned in the topics below. We tentatively define two main fields below, Generative Document Retrieval and Grounded Answer Generation



Recently, conversational models (e.g. YOU.com, perplexity.ai, Bing.com) started to be able to access the web or backup their claims with sources (a.k.a. attribution). These chatbots are thus arguably information retrieval machines, competing against or even substituting traditional search engines. We would like to dedicate a space to these models but also to the more general field of Generative Information Retrieval.

We mean topics like are Generative Document Retrieval (DSI, ...), Grounded Answer Generation (retrieval-enhanced LLM, ...) and applications to things like recommendation, summarization, ...



We’re accepting long & short papers & works-in-progress. Authors submit directly to the workshop for double-blind reviews from our PC. We’ll also be accepting papers with reviews from ARR, and non-archival subs.
