Improving the Risk Model

The goal of the Risk Model is to have a high hit-rate. That is, the ratio between

People and Households given a Risk Category in a Cohort

… and

Cases raised from a Cohort that actually had unmet Needs.

Improving the hit-rate will get more support to people who need it, and reduce unnecessary effort for those that don’t.

Steps

The effectiveness of the Risk Model can be analysed where

an Assessment does not lead to an offer of Support

a Case is raised that was NOT in a Cohort

If a pattern emerges … it may be improved by

incorporating new Risk Factors

improving data quality

adjusting the algorithm and weightings that are used to set Risk Categories
