How to Grant Surrogacy Access in PECOS

Overview

As a pie Health client, you’ve partnered with us to manage your Medicare enrollments efficiently. To allow us to handle this process on your behalf, you must grant surrogacy access in PECOS. This step ensures we can submit and maintain your Medicare enrollment without requiring your direct login each time.
This guide walks you through:
Confirming whether you're already set up as the Authorized Official (AO).
What to do if you’re not the AO.
Granting surrogacy access to pie Health in PECOS.
This is a one-time setup that will allow us to take care of Medicare enrollments for you without any extra effort on your end.

Step 1: Confirm Your Authorized Official (AO) Status

Before granting surrogacy, you must be registered as the Authorized Official (AO) in PECOS. The AO is the individual legally authorized to make enrollment decisions for your practice.

How to Check If You’re the AO

Click on the “My Profile” tab.
Scroll down to the Employer Information section.
If you are listed as the Authorized Official, you can proceed to Step 3.
If you are not the AO, you’ll need to register as one (see Step 2).

Step 2: Register as an Authorized Official (If Needed)

If you’re not listed as the AO, you must register before you can assign surrogacy access.
Click on the “My Profile” tab.
Scroll to the Employer Information section and select “Add Employer.”
Search for your practice using your NPI or Tax Identification Number (TIN).
Select Authorized Official as your role and submit the request.
Follow the instructions from CMS to verify your role.
Once CMS approves your AO registration, you can proceed with granting pie Health surrogacy access.

Step 3: Log in to PECOS

Once your AO status is confirmed, log in to PECOS to assign surrogacy access.
Visit .
Enter your CMS credentials (same as your I&A account).
Complete the multi-factor authentication process to access your account.

Step 4: Grant Surrogacy Access to pie Health

In PECOS, navigate to the “My Connections” tab.
Locate your organization and click “Add Surrogate.”
Search for pie Health by entering the NPI provided by your credentialing specialist.
Select the business functions pie Health should have access to (e.g., PECOS and NPPES).
Confirm and submit the request.

Step 5: Approve the Surrogacy Request

Once the request is submitted, CMS will send you an email notification. You must log back in to approve it.
Go to the “My Connections” section.
Locate the pending surrogacy request and approve it.

After approval, pie Health will have the necessary access to manage your Medicare enrollments on your behalf.

FAQs

What if I don’t know my PECOS or I&A login credentials?

Use the “Forgot User ID” or “Forgot Password” links on the to recover your credentials.

Can multiple providers in my group assign surrogacy?

Yes. Each provider must individually grant surrogacy access for their Medicare enrollment records.

How do I know if my request has been approved?

Once you’ve approved the surrogacy request, pie Health will confirm once access is in place. If we need any additional steps from you, we’ll notify you.
