Standard Operating Procedures

Standard Operating Procedures (Implementation)

The university utilises an "Individualised Support Model," meaning specific adjustments are applied as "bolt-on" provisions on a case-by-case basis when a person/authoritative party discloses a need.

SOP 1: Formal "Trigger" Mechanism

Implementation begins when a student self-admits and submits medical or psychological documentation to the IEC office.
Implementation may begin when an authoritative party of a student submits an appeal for IAP to be prepared for the student.
The office drafts a confidential Individual Accommodation Plan (IAP) specifying mandatory adjustments, which is distributed only to the relevant department or lecturers for that specific student.
The mandates of the IAP are binding and cannot be overridden by individual lecturers.
The mandates of the IAP are not binding, but can be used as the ground for the adjustment to the standard procedure of the department to accommodate the IAP's objectives and needs.

SOP 2: Case-Specific "Assessment Menus"

A student/authoritative party with an IAP must submit an Assessment Menu Declaration Form at least two weeks before an assessment to activate their chosen format.
The lecturer or assessor then organises the jury schedule to accommodate that specific student's chosen format (e.g., Closed-Door Viva or Pre-Recorded Walkthrough).

SOP 3: Health-Bounded Protocols

For students with fluctuating medical conditions, the IAP may suggest that the standard physical attendance requirement is automatically waived during documented medical flare-ups.
During this period, the student must go through SOP 1 and SOP 2.
For SOP 2, the two-week notice before assessment can be waived in case of emergency.
