I don’t see the HUD / HP bar / Azure Bow / Mystic Nymph

There are several potential reasons:

Only the Mystic Nymph icon is missing:

If your current progress is right after leaving the Dream area and have not yet beaten Lady Ethereal, this is normal. The missing UI will reappear as you advance further in the game.

This might be due to the HUD being turned off. Please go to [Options] → [Gameplay] and enable the [HUD] option to resolve this issue.

What languages does Nine Sols support? Will you support more languages?

We currently support five languages: Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, Japanese, and Korean. We plan to add support for German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Ukrainian soon. Please stay tuned!

Skills

Why can’t I jump above the green orb / perform an air dash / deflect a red bullet / perform a double jump?

This is because you have not yet reached the required progress point or missed the skill learning location. Below are the corresponding skill details:

Why can’t I summon Mystic Nymph after exiting Dream area?

Your Mystic Nymph is temporarily retrieved by the system due to the in-game progress. You can retrieve it after defeating Lady Ethereal.

When using the Azure Bow, arrows automatically switch to another one.

Nine Sols has a preset button for changing arrows, so it is possible that you accidentally pressed the arrow switch button.

Why can I gain experience from fighting monsters no more?

You have reached the maximum level. The remaining skill points must be obtained by Tao Fruits. (Character level can be viewed on the [Status] page).

Why can’t I max out my skill points even though I am at the Max level?

The remaining skill points must be obtained by Tao Fruits.

I gave the Abacus - Ruyi [Tianhuo Serum] / [Ji's Hair], but didn’t unlock a new ability.

The “Super Mutant Buster” requires both the Tianhuo Serum and Ji’s Hair. You will gain this ability after submitting both items.

I have got Super Mutant Buster but I cannot destroy the Tianhuo mutations

Please check the spell style you are using, and perform a Talisman explosion to the mutants accordingly. Tianhuo mutations and Tianhuo flowers will only be eliminated when taking damage from the Talisman explosion and their health bar reaches zero

Main Story Quest

I defeated Yanlao (Sky Rending Claw) but did not receive Jiequan's duel call.

Please confirm whether you have defeated the following bosses:

General Yingzhao

Goumang

Yanlao (Sky Rending Claw)

You will only receive Jiequan's duel call after defeating all three of these bosses (in any order).

I unlocked the mechanism in the herb room of the Factory (Hall) but did not get the GM Fertilizer.

This is because you did not break the fertilizer ball that dropped when you first unlocked the mechanism.

Please try leaving the room and re-entering it, and the fertilizer ball will drop again. You can then obtain the GM Fertilizer by breaking it.

I experienced lag in the Dream area.

The Dream area ruled by Lady Ethereal has high loading demands, so lag issues commonly happen on most types of equipment. The development team is continually working on optimizing the loading issues.

I was crushed by the large red boulder in the Grotto of Scriptures (West). After respawning at the Root Node, I found the path blocked.

You can find a rope to climb up at the location shown in the image below, which will allow you to continue the game.

I forgot to complete the side quests before triggering the no-return point. Is there still a chance to complete them?

The no-return point refers to entering Eigong's Vital Sanctum at the bottom of Tianhuo Research Institute. You can still go back and trigger any side quest before entering the Vital Sanctum. If you have already entered the Vital Sanctum and triggered the storyline, please enjoy the ending first. After watching the cutscenes, your original save file will automatically retain all your equipment, jade, side quest progress, etc., and reset the game progress to just before entering Eigong's Vital Sanctum. At that point, you can attempt to trigger other side quests again.

Why can’t I trigger the true ending?

To trigger the true ending, ensure the following conditions are met:

The completion of Shuanshuan’s side quests reaches the requirements

Completion of Shennong’s side quest (You must reach the point where Shennong becomes the leader of Peach Blossom Village, detailed information can be found

here⁠

Give the Rhizomatic Bomb to Kuafu

Bell Puzzle

I can't solve the bell puzzle in Lake Yaochi Ruins.

Hint:

After giving the artifact "Ancient Sheet Music" to Shuanshuan and collecting the Seal of Goumang, a corresponding cutscene will be triggered, and you will receive the "Ancient Penglai Ballad."

I can't solve the bell puzzle in Empyrean Dist. (Living Area).

Chiyou Side Quests

I defeated Yanlao before lowering the bridge, and Chiyou doesn't give me the Revival Jade

If you lower the bridge after defeating Yanlao, the Revival Jade will be automatically added to the item list in Chiyou’s shop and require Jin to purchase.

How to Complete the Chiyou Side Quest?

To complete the Chiyou side quest, you need to trigger the prison break event and have Chiyou stationed at Four Seasons Pavilion to unlock all items in the Chiyou shop.

Next, please fulfill the following conditions before entering Eigong's Vital Sanctum:

Purchase all items in the Chiyou shop.

Complete Chiyou's Request I — Beat "Celestial Spectre: Shangui" and obtain the "Soul-Severing Blade" (this request is triggered after purchasing a certain number of items).

Complete Chiyou's Request II — Beat "Celestial Enforcer: Tieyan" and obtain the "Firestorm Ring" (this request is triggered after purchasing all items).

After fulfilling the above conditions, follow the main storyline to trigger the event and enter Eigong's Vital Sanctum.

After exiting Eigong's Vital Sanctum, go to the top-left corner of the Tiandao Research Center (highlighted in the image below) to trigger the storyline.

Shennong Side Quests

I can’t pick up the drop from the Yellow Dragon.

We have fixed this issue in a previous build. Please update to the latest version and go to the location where you defeated the Yellow Dragon in the underground cave. You should be able to see the dropped items there.

Why is Shennong’s side quest not progressing?

Ensure you have given Shennong a sufficient amount of poisons. To trigger the Yellow Dragon quest requires at least 6 poisons (excluding the initial poison given during the poisoning event).

I’ve given all the poisons, but Shennong won’t leave the Four Seasons Pavilion.

To trigger Shennong’s departure from the Four Seasons Pavilion, ensure the following conditions are met:

Drank with Shennong eight times

Completed the Yellow Dragon task

Finished all dialogues with Shennong in the Four Seasons Pavilion

Completed the Solarian Artifact - Fusang Amulet side quest with Shuanshuan

Completed the Solarian Artifact - Unknown Seed (including two GM Fertilizer) side quest with Shuanshuan

Please try to reach the requirements above, and see if Shennong leaves the Four Seasons Pavilion.

Shanhai 9000 Side Quests

I can’t trigger the Shanhai 9000’s quest after leaving Tianhuo Research Institute

To complete the Shanhai 9000 side quest, the following conditions must be met:

Provide Shanhai 9000 with a total of nine memory chips.The nine chips are as follows:

Power Reservoir Chip

Agricultural Zone Chip

Warehouse Zone Chip

Transmutation Zone Chip

Abandoned Mines Chip

Central Core Chip

Empyrean District Chip

Grotto of Scriptures Chip

Research Institute Chip

Complete the three cutscenes of Shanhai 9000 storyline.

These conditions must be fulfilled before entering Eigong’s Vital Sanctum.

How do I find the personalized text messages for backers?

How do I find the personalized audio messages for backers?

The personalized audio messages are made into an old record player. You can find it near the Shanhai 1000 on the right side of Ancient Stone Pillar after defeating Ji. Please refer to the following image:

How do I find the personalized portraits for backers?

The personalized portraits can only be viewed at Galactic Dock after sending the ape-men to board the spaceships in the true ending. Please refer to the following image:

How do I find the personalized stories for backers?

The personal stories are made into Passenger Tokens.

First, obtain the "Super Mutant Buster" ability. Then, go to the Empyrean District (Sanctum) and Tiandao Research Center to destroy the Tianhuo mutations by performing talisman detonations. This will give you a chance to obtain the tokens.

Red Candle Eshop & Crowdfunding Campaign

I'm a backer. Can I change my pledge or purchase specific rewards separately?

Since the crowdfunding campaign has ended, we are currently unable to change your pledge or allow for additional purchases of specific physical rewards.

We plan to ship all physical rewards in Q4 of this year. If there are any leftovers, we will consider making them available for sale again. Additionally, we are planning to ensure that non-backers also have the opportunity to acquire Nine Sols’ physical merchandise and art books while safeguarding the rights of our backers.

If you're interested, please follow us on social media for updates. We will announce any relevant news when it‘s ready.

When will the physical rewards be shipped?

We plan to send out all physical rewards in Q4 of this year.

Before shipping, we will send another email to all relevant backers to confirm the addresses and other details. Please keep an eye on your inbox when the time comes.

When can I redeem the digital art book?

We are sorry to inform you that the art book is still in production, and we cannot guarantee when it will be done and available.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

What are the options for redeeming the Nine Sols soundtrack?

We plan to release a DRM-free version of the Nine Sols soundtrack and the game itself on the Red Candle Eshop after the current version stabilizes.

Please be patient and stay tuned if you're interested.

Furthermore, if you're our backer, you can choose to download the Nine Sols soundtrack on either Steam or the Red Candle Eshop. Please note that choosing a Steam version key does not limit you to redeeming the soundtrack exclusively on Steam.

Can I re-download digital content like the game or soundtrack on my new computer/another device?

Yes. Once you purchase games/OST on the Red Candle Eshop or Steam, as long as you use the same account on the corresponding platform on your new computer/device, you can re-download the purchased content.

If I purchase Nine Sols on the Red Candle Eshop, will I need to buy it again when it's ported to consoles?

Yes. Currently, the Red Candle Eshop only offers the Steam version of Nine Sols, and after purchase, it can only be played on Steam.

Please note that Nine Sols needs to be purchased separately for different platforms (including Steam and Red Candle Eshop versions), and saved data will not carry over among platforms.

Can I play Nine Sols on my Steam Deck?

Absolutely! Nine Sols is Steam Deck Verified, and we strongly recommend you play it on Steam Deck!

Is Nine Sols only available on Steam? When will there be a DRM-free version?

Yes, at the moment, only the Steam version of Nine Sols is available for redemption. We plan to release a DRM-free version of the game on the Red Candle Eshop after the current version becomes more stable.

When will Nine Sols be available on consoles?

We plan to release the console versions of Nine Sols in Q4, 2024.

For backers who supported tiers that include only one redemption code, please be aware that redeeming the Steam key from the Red Candle Eshop will lead to losing the right to redeem the console platform game code.

Can I play Nine Sols on a mobile/tablet?

We regret to inform you that currently, we have not released a playable version of Nine Sols on mobile devices such as smartphones or tablets, and there are no immediate plans for such a port at this stage.
