Energise Community — Volunteers and Partners

We believe in building AI for the public and with the public. Collaboration is not optional.

Hey! Welcome to the people+ai community :)

People+ai connects visionaries like you with ideas and resources to co-create AI-based initiatives that shape a future by design. Together, we identify challenges, generate solutions, and build the foundational tools needed to scale AI for impact across India.

That’s cool. But does people+ai really do?

Discover, demonstrate, and disseminate population-scale use cases for AI in India
Build Digital Public Infrastructure to help innovators scale these use cases to everyone
Grow communities and set up open spaces for collaboration
Cheerlead good ideas and silent heroes, promoting deep thinking and dissemination of the Indian perspective on AI

I’m interested! How can people get involved?

You can volunteer with us at an individual capacity or partner with us through your organisation.
We believe in building AI for the public and with the public. And we do this with an “ecological mindset”. We know that if we really want to make a difference, collaborating with others in the ecosystem is not optional.
Our project teams include partner organisations and interested volunteers. And we put collective efforts together towards building something worthwhile. If you resonate with this approach, you can join an existing project or share an idea for launching a new one.

Let’s talk action. What are we really going to do together?

Let’s work on a Project together: Do any of the projects on our resonate with you? You can work on it with us as a volunteer or a partner organisation.
Let’s work on an Idea together : Let’s be honest, it’s difficult to build an idea alone. The good news is that you don’t have to. If you have an idea worth sharing, then we will bring the people together to make that idea a reality. At people+ai, we innovate through collaboration. We work with our community to generate powerful ideas and launch them into projects that make an impact.
Let’s organise an Event together: People coming together can be powerful. We’re creating spaces where folks can genuinely form meaningful connections and find ways to help each other. We organise gatherings of various kinds to help build momentum within a community group or project. We invite other organisations to co-brand and co-host events with us.
Let’s create some inspiring Content together: AI is booming right now. Everybody is talking about it. But let’s say something of real value and cut through the noise. This could be an article, podcast, video, etc. Let’s find a way to showcase what’s happening with AI in India and publish it to help build momentum to the work that is going on.
Join our Fellowship Cohort: Join our next cohort of long-term talent championing population-scale AI and digital public infrastructure in India

Are you convinced? Then let’s work together!

Please note - We are experiencing a high demand of volunteer applications. For every volunteer we onboard, we want to create a meaningful engagement and experience for them. Most volunteers are added through referrals and a select few applicants who apply through our online form. You can get in touch with our team if you are keen to volunteer.

Before you go, we care about the culture. How we work is as important as what we do. Let’s collaborate together, upholding these values.

Purpose-driven: We believe in creating an where AI benefits are shared by all, not just a select few.
Ecological mindset: We bridge government, social good organisations, and businesses, aiming for outsized impact through our network of partners, volunteers, and innovators.
Bias to action: We learn by doing and value taking action. Your contributions, big or small, are celebrated.
For the public, in public: We build powerful technology transparently, making it easy for people to contribute and build upon our work.
