Not necessary, but could have

These are things that many of my friends have and use but I personally did not purchase for school.

Microwave
My friend has one in her room but only uses it to microwave frozen meals or popcorn. I use her microwave when I want to heat up my leftovers but don’t find that I personally need one.
Vaccuum
I’d recommend befriending someone who has a vaccuum and borrowing it rather than purchasing one and having to store it yourself.
Printer
Same as above, I’d recommend befriending someone who has a printer and asking them to print things when you need them just because setting up your own printer is a hassle.
Storage Bins
I would hold off purchasing any storage solutions until you get to your room and see how much additional space you need. Personally, I didn’t find that I needed any additional storage space, however if you know yourself and bring lots of clothing to school, you definitely could purchase additional storage.
Various Medicine
People get sick from the most random things at college so I would advise against purchasing medicine beforehand. There are CVS’s that are really convenient that you can purchase specific medicines to combat (ie: cough syrup/cough suppressants, cold medicine, eye drops for pink eye, etc.)

Winter Boots
I did not find that I needed winter boots because the amount of snow in Philly was always managed well (in high traffic areas, it was always packed down or salted over). However, there certainly were people that did bring winter boots!
Rain Jacket
I personally preferred just using an umbrella, but a rain jacket is another viable option

Portable Speaker
This can be fun when you’re in a group and want to play music, however you can also have your friends bring speakers
Portable Charger
I don’t really use my portable power bank, but I have friends who rely on them on a day-to-day basis
Tablet
Some people prefer taking their notes on a tablet
Stylus Pen
To go with the tablet
Monitor
Personally, I don’t study much in my room so I don’t have a need for a monitor. However, I know some students who need to use Excel or do a lot of coding appreciate having a larger display to work off of.
Scissors
You might want these to open packages or if you have more crafty projects
Gaming Console
Bring your gaming stuff if you plan on gaming!!
Miscellaneous
1
Various Hobby Equipment
ie: Art supplies, a guitar, Spikeball net, basketball, baseball, etc.
