BDO has committed to supporting the goal of Net-Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner, along with our GPPC peers, with whom we joined the Net-Zero Financial Service Providers Alliance (NZFSPA) in September 2021.

Achieving Net-Zero is a strategic goal that requires a reduction in the absolute amount of greenhouse gas emissions produced by an organisation’s activities. It's a complex undertaking comprising three key steps:

STEP 1 Calculation of carbon footprint

The journey starts with the measurement of BDO's carbon footprint. The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard is at the core of the methodology adopted by BDO.

A 2022 carbon year baseline would need to be calculated in 2023, from which the carbon reduction targets (Step 2) can then be set.

Carbon footprint calculations will need to take place annually following the calculation for the 2022 baseline year.

STEP 2 Roadmap to Net-Zero

Once the baseline has been calculated, the next step is to set science-based carbon reduction targets. The targets should be aligned with your firm's broader strategic goals and BDO's commitment as a member of the NZFSPA.

To ensure that best practice is observed and that there is a commitment to take action, it is expected that firms will set their targets in accordance with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) Corporate Net-Zero Standard criteria.

기준선이 계산되면 다음 단계는 과학에 기반한 탄소 감축 목표를 설정하는 것입니다. 이 목표는 기업의 광범위한 전략적 목표 및 뉴질랜드 기후변화협약의 회원사로서 BDO의 약속과 일치해야 합니다.

STEP 3 Climate reporting

Climate reporting can start as soon as the carbon baseline has been calculated. It is a requirement of the NZFSPA that BDO follows the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework to disclose its carbon footprints and targets.

Aligning with TCFD for climate reporting will ensure the consistency and comparability of the information disclosed across the organisation and will allow for a global BDO report to be collated and published in due course.

2월 : 글로벌 오피스에 넷제로 여정에 대한 약속을 확인합니다.

3월 : 글로벌 탄소 발자국 방법론 연구

4월 : 2022 회계연도에 대한 경계 설정 설문지를 작성하여 글로벌 오피스에 제출합니다. 필요한 데이터 수집을 시작합니다.

7월 : 온실가스 배출 인벤토리 및 감사 파일을 글로벌 오피스에 제출합니다.

3~4분기 : SBTi의 목표 설정 방법론을 연구하고 탈탄소화 로드맵 작업을 시작합니다(2024년 제출을 목표로 하거나 준비되면 더 빨리 제출).

BDO의 넷제로 정책

이 정책을 통해 BDO 회원사는 배출량 계산, 넷제로 목표 설정, 연간 보고 단계를 통해 이행을 지원하는 표준화된 글로벌 접근 방식을 이용할 수 있습니다. 탄소중립 정책의 목표는 온실가스(GHG) 배출량의 일관성과 감사 가능성, BDO가 글로벌 조직으로서 보고할 감축 목표, 회원사의 탄소중립 금융서비스 제공업체 연합에 대한 조율 등을 보장하는 것입니다.

이 정책은 2023년 7월 발표를 목표로 현재 개발 중입니다.
