Preparing for the Strategy Session
Set Up Expectation
Explain why this is a crucial step in the process
Make sure the right people are invited
Make sure to share the agenda beforehand

Session Logistics
For an in person session
Make sure you’ll have a good quiet room with whiteboards or flip charts
Make sure you have a solid internet connection
Bring some healthy snacks
Bring papers and writing materials
Bring sticky notes
Consider what to wear
If there are team mates that are not present, make sure everyone has a laptop so that they all can communicate with each other in the call
For an online session
Make sure you have a strong connection

Facilitation Tips
Establish that you run the meeting by explaining the rules of the game
No phones
State when we’ll have breaks
Be curious - ask why a lot
Don’t be afraid to challenge (not atacking) your client: “help me understand”
Take a lot of notes, and ask them to use sticky notes
If necessary, ask permission to record the session and/or take pictures of the post its and white boards, as it will be helpful to review
Conclude the meeting with what to expect next
