What are the technical requirements for participating in tutoring sessions?

You will need a laptop/PC/ or a device you can use to host sessions.

Is there a specific schedule for tutoring sessions?

No, you can log in at any time to contribute on Schoolhouse.

We are going to have Office Hours where everyone can say what time range feels best for them to work their hours, so make sure to put in your preferred time. This document can be found

Can I focus on multiple subjects or specialize in one?

You can focus on Multiple subjects if you’d like.

You can answer any question that come up on Schoolhouse as long as you know it very well, or are certified in that topic.

Are there specific materials or resources I should use for tutoring in a particular subject?

Right now, we are still on the Learning level as per our progress on Schoolhouse, so there aren’t any resources/materials needed.

I would advise that you check out the certification process on the map journey of your subworld to see the requirements to advance your status.

How can I address challenging topics during tutoring sessions?

Any topics you come across that you find difficult on Schoolhouse, you can notify your leads about them to see if they are able to help.

Please note, both your subject Lead and you will be helping one another in this process. Teamwork makes the dreamwork!

Are there guidelines for maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment?

Certificates signify your contribution and can lead to advancement within the tutoring program.

Who should I contact if I encounter technical issues during tutoring sessions?

Please message @Liya or @Flakky if you encounter any technical issues, and depending on if your issue is able to be solved or not, you can contact the engineers at Schoolhouse.

Are there opportunities for collaboration with other tutors?

You can engage with fellow tutors through designated forums and events, fostering collaboration. You can also attend sessions, and meet new people, from all over the world!

How can I contribute to the broader STEMPOWERed community?

Share your experiences, insights, and best practices to contribute to the STEMPOWERed community.

Can I tutor someone without getting certified?

No, you can not tutor nor host any sessions without getting certified in that particular subworld. But you can answer any questions through chat. Reminder: Please make sure you understand the topic you’re tutoring fully before hosting any sessions, remember, the goal of these session is to help students understand each topic. So make sure any information you share in your session are always 100% accurate.

What does peer-reviewing mean?

Every session you host at Schoolhouse will be reviewed by a qualified tutor. The tutor will make sure you are not sharing any personal information, teaching accurately, and following Schoolhouse guidelines. You can become a peer-reviewer yourself, although it requires you to complete specific tutor training modules. If any issues are found in your sessions, it can lead to some complications, so make sure to take the tutor training modules seriously!

What are the consequences of violating Schoolhouse guidelines?

Repeatedly violating Schoolhouse guidelines can lead to a temporary suspension, or even a permanent termination of your account.
