Our Goals Today
Align on the high-level scope and user context of the candidate projects Get a high-level read on degree of impact on users and feasibility Dig into any disparity and build up our shared understanding
Important note: This is not a decision-making meeting. We’re focused on getting aligned on these project candidates and getting some high-level estimates in place to help guide our prioritization.
Important note: This planning process will help us jumpstart our roadmap for 2024. But roadmaps are dynamic. We’ll add projects to our roadmap and make changes to priorities as we learn along the way (e.g. new research, new customer requests).
2024 Landlord Domain Product Strategy
Our Vision: We support RentSpree’s vision to connect people and rentals by simplifying the work required to own and operate rental properties.
We Do This By: Designing simple, intuitive software tools that abstract complexity, save time, and empower landlords to accomplish more.
We Serve: Landlords who are digitally-inclined — they are eager to find new solutions or open to technology-based solutions to their problems.
Success Looks Like: More engaged landlords on the platform, with a heightened emphasis on landlords who activate rent payment.
Project Candidates
How to use this page:
Review the project candidates in the table below. For deeper context including research highlights and ideas from the ideation session PXD held, follow the ideation link. Once you’re confident you understand what a project is, click the Provide input button. This will create a new row in the for the project. Provide your inputs for the project candidate based on the . Wherever possible, include context in the notes field for each score. If you think a project will have a negative impact on RentSpree, explain why. Note that the inputs table is filtered to only your submissions. This is by design — we’ll discuss results after submissions are done but we want to avoid influencing each other’s inputs. You can also add projects you think we should consider at the bottom of the table using the + sign. This will add a new row. Provide as much context as you can now, but don’t worry about being exhaustive — we can always add more later.

Share Your Perspective
Product discovery is a collaborative effort. We’ll use the table below to gather perspective from the team which will be a valuable input in designing our roadmap and prioritizing the projects we decide to pick up. The inputs will guide us but this table will not make our decisions for us.
This exercise is largely based on your intuition. Use what you know to provide your answers. Don’t overthink it. If you don’t feel you have sufficient context or knowledge on a particular field for a project, write “no opinion” in the corresponding notes field.
Field Definitions
User Impact: the degree of impact on the target user; negative numbers represent negative impact while positive numbers indicate positive impact; consider all users, e.g. landlord and renter RentSpree Impact: the degree of business impact for RentSpree, e.g. attracting new users, retaining existing users, or generating revenue; negative numbers represent negative impact while positive numbers indicate positive impact Complexity/Effort: how difficult will this project be to conceptualize, validate, design, build, scale, etc? especially consider your functional role for this score (e.g. for engineering what is the technical complexity and effort?) Enthusiasm: how excited are you about this project? would you be excited to work on it? Disagree: you have a strong opinion that we should not pursue the project 2024 Roadmap Planning Inputs

2024 Short List
Per request from Ajay, the top 4 projects from the current list based on the team’s estimate of user impact. Note that with clarifying the intent of onboarding, changes in Ingo’s scores would have landed that work in the top 4.
Move-In/Move-Out (avg. 3.9/5 user value) () Provide a convenient and organized way for renters and landlords to keep track of the property’s condition and check for damage beyond normal wear and tear. Leverage a mobile-optimized experience to guide users through documenting condition and issues during move-in and align parties during move-out to reduce issues like security deposit disagreements. Expense Tracking & Categorization (avg. 3/5 user value) Provide a way for landlords to track expenses related to managing their properties. Especially useful during tax time and can be tied in with other features such as maintenance requests to enhance the value of both. Collaborative Tenant Sourcing (avg. 3.3/5 user value) () Embed workflows into the platform that enable agents and landlords to collaborate on the tasks related to finding and selecting the right tenants. This happens off platform today and research shows this is a pain point, creating a good opportunity for us to solve a problem in a way that brings both user types back to the platform after the initial screening is done. Provides good engagement hooks for accept/deny, rent payment, and other downstream services. Maintenance Requests (avg. 2.9./5 user value) () Provide a way for landlords to capture and manage maintenance requests for properties. Understanding the status of open requests is a known pain point for renters. Maintenance requests is the #1 thing that drives communication between renters and landlords during tenancy, making it a great engagement hook that can bring both user types back to the platform in between lease signing. Can be integrated with expense tracking to enhance the value of both features.
