This part of the document contains information about the general area of the Outdoor Classroom and also detailed drawings of the current and proposed variations of the classroom. Through this information provided by the drawings, we can better visualize and render how the classroom will create the correct experience for students in the school. By working on creating a functional design that works toward the goals of each person, the outdoor classroom can become a symbol of student involvement in the Alsion community while also serving to exemplify the ways in which the design of the classroom can facilitate the process of gardening.
Site Plan
To better understand the surrounding area and the terrain upon which the outdoor classroom will be built, here are a few pictures detailing the surrounding landscape. There is a cloth canopy which can be suspended with greater tension toward the right side of the classroom. There is also some outdoor furniture that exists in the garden that can be utilized in the final design of the outdoor classroom. The slope of the classroom can be utilized to the advantage of our design by creating a sloped roof without the accumulation of water. However, if the ground needs to be flattened out to better accommodate the bench and other seating arrangements this can also be accounted for. The project will continue to develop, but understanding the relationship between the terrain and the shape of the roof is paramount in creating the right experience for students while gardening. Once again, the roof is the number one priority.
