Association for empathy in organisations
I invite you to use it together with me, while it is better to agree first e.g. like this:
a. You state goals.
b. You make (maybe with my help) a data management plan that includes requirements for any software it is advisable to use, e.g. for telecommunication.
If we try Coda now (and export these data later), I’d say we use it for communication as I indicate below. One reason is that Coda searches documents, but doesn’t search tables and comments. (Why does it have those features then? I don’t like it when a service provider makes a user do work that the provider is supposed to do.)
Steps on a larger computer (laptop / desktop)
They result in threads of messages similar to those designed by Reddit.
1: To start a conversation, I create a page in this by doing this:
1.1 I press the keys Control and \ to have Coda display the left-hand side panel.
1.2 I select this text: new page
1.3 I press the keys Control and C to copy it.
1.4 I press the keys Control and F to have the Internet browser display a search field.
1.5 I press the keys Control and V to paste the text into this field.
1.6 I press the key Enter to have the Internet browser search for this text.
1.7 When it finds this text as the command name in the left-hand side panel (under the list of pages), I press the key Escape to have the Internet browser close the search field.
1.8 I press the key Enter to have Coda create a page.
1.9 I input a name for this conversation.
1.10 I press the key Enter to move the cursor to the page body.
1.11 I compose a piece of content (in this case, a message) that can include e.g. text and media.
When I want Coda to hide the left-hand side panel, I press the keys Control and \.
1.12 To notify the others of my new message:
1.12.1 I select some text in it.
1.12.2 I press the keys Control, Shift, and M to open the window for comments.
1.12.3 I input at least one character.
1.12.4 I press the keys Control and Enter to post my “comment”.

2: To respond to a message, I create a subpage by doing this:
1.1 I press the key / to have Coda display a list of commands.
1.2 I type s to have Coda list commands the name of which includes this character.
1.3 I press the key Enter to have Coda create a subpage.
1.4 I input a name for this message.
It can start with numbers following this pattern: 1.1.1...
1.5 I press the keys Control and ← to have the Internet browser go back to the (sub)page from which I’ve created my subpage.
1.6 I press the key Delete to delete the link to the new subpage.
1.7 I press the keys Control and → to have the Internet browser go to the new subpage.
1.8 I compose my message.
Coda links to subpages from the beginning of each page.
1.9 To notify the others of my new message:
1.9.1 I select some text in it.
1.9.2 I press the keys Control, Shift, and M to open the window for comments.
1.9.3 I input at least one character.
1.9.4 I press the keys Control and Enter to post my “comment”.

To be notified of comments:
I press the button “More actions” displayed at the left of my profile picture in the upper right corner of the screen.
I press the button “Manage notifications”, the last one in the opened list.
I go to the tab “This doc” of the right-hand side panel.
I use the toggle to turn on notifications about comments.
To link to another page, I press the keys Shift and 2, input some characters to search for page names, then pick a page from the displayed list.

Data managed here can be shared with Google Groups.

Want to print your doc?
This is not the way.
Try clicking the ⋯ next to your doc name or using a keyboard shortcut (
CtrlP
) instead.
