After this lesson, students will be able to:
Use the GoodMaps app to travel indoor routes at school

Materials

iPhone or Android phone with GoodMaps downloaded from the App Store or the Google Play Store. This may be the student’s personal device, the teacher’s device, or a school-issued device.

Locations

Anywhere inside the GoodMaps mapped building at your school

To prepare for this lesson, discuss the following with students:

The proper way to hold the phone while routing to ensure accuracy
The importance of using traditional O&M skills while using the app.GoodMaps should NOT replace your other O&M skills!

Main Activity: Practice Search, Sort & Filter

Ask students to make a list of destinations they want to travel to while using the app. For example, you could ask students to make a list of all of destinations of their daily schedule in the order they visit them. Or you could ask students to make a list of destinations they are less familiar with inside the school.
Next, determine a starting place, and allow students to practice using the app to travel to the destinations on their list. Repeat this as many times as you like.

Assessment, Refection & Self Evaluation

Observe students as they travel routes to ensure they are traveling safely and accurately following the turn-by-turn instructions.
Ask students to share any challenges or frustrations they experienced while using the app.
Ask students to consider how they might overcome those challenges or frustrations using critical thinking and/or traditional O&M skills. Then, ask students to complete
